Hello all! I purchased my 1.5 ct. upgrade, and while think it's pretty much fabulous, I want to make sure I'm not missing anything problematic. I plan to set it in a cvb jovyn (slightly modified) very soon, so I just want to be sure this is an absolute keeper.... thanks!
It's:
1.5 ct
I color
Vs1
3x cut
Med blue fluor
Proportions are:
7.37-7.41×4.49
Table: 57%
Depth 69.7%
Crown 14.5 %
Pavilion 43%

PS. Now they have changed the HCA advisor site, and it is actually telling me that my diamond is best for a necklace. I heard that diamonds that are spready usually fall in this category, but mine does not. For some reason, this is seriously bugging me!!:roll
 
can you post the GIA certificate #? The depth seems way off (SUPER deep) and the pavilion angle seems rather high as well.
 
Your specs seem off? Also, do you have the pavilion and crown angles (not %)?
 
It's possible I made a mistake. My daughter chas no school today, so I am being interrupted every 2 seconds, lol. Here it is:

You have excellent spread, scintillation, light return and spread based on your #s. So, good job!!!

Hi Happy! Did you see the new range system that places it outside the "best for rings" category? Should I ignore it as a glitch I the system, or is there something I am missing? I am just a super cautious person, and this diamond was such a great price (I think), I just want to be absolutely sure, as this is my absolute last upgrade ever....(famous last words, I know!!)
 
And thank you for the input!! I think it's very pretty, and the difference in comparing it to my old diamond is very apparent!!!

My previous diamond was in that TIC category. It was ideal cut (confirmed via idealscope and ASET images). There really isn't a way for us here on PS to tell if a diamond has ideal light performance without those or at least a video. But, what do you think? Do you like how it performs? Does it sparkle? Mine sure did!
 
I think it does sparkle nicely , but to b completely honest up until about a year ago, I thought my 1.08 was amazing....then I realized it kinda isn't. I think it performs well, but obviously I'm no expert, and I'm not even sure what to look for as far as performance. I used the cheat sheet and crossed my fingers that I'd do well...:eh:
 
you could order an idealscope and check yourself :)

Would I get the beginner ( the pink one?). And does it work on set stones? I have it in a wg setting until I send it to Caysie to be set, so I can wear it until she's ready.

Hello again, just an update, I have decided to keep the diamond! I fortunately had the opportunity to hold onto my old diamond for a few days before trading it in, and the difference is mind-blowing in some lighting situations. Big thanks to Happynewlife, who's advice was much needed, thank you!!! Now I just need advice on how to keep it from "shrinking", bc it already has!!:-o And no for some more pics:

My upgrade scored 0.8 in the TIC range for HCA, and I freaking love it! Sub 1 HCA stones tend to be spreadier than those scoring HCA 1 or above.

Congrats! You did well!

Msop04, I was hoping to hear from you, :wavey:since you an your jovyn are about 75% responsible for my project, lol!!! I must have hit your posts about 50 times, trying to decide if i was ready. I noticed yours had a less than 1 score, so i realized mine might be ok, bc yours is perfect!!! Of course, mine isnt half as big as yours, but i think you can see your influence written all over this, esp. in the setting???? :Up_to_something2::appl:

Great choice, I was worried when I saw the depth before you corrected it lol. Would you ever consider a halo for it? That usually fixes DSS.
 
lol, I had to look at what I said to you, but yay, glad it helped! It looks great!!! OMG, DSS is a beast, isn't it? It happens practically overnight.
 
GearGirly, i must say i considered a halo briefly, but in the end, a solitaire won out, mostly bc ive had issues with melee: falling out of the setting, competing with the center and causing it to look duller, and just keeping the ring clean. Plus, im a super simple jeans and t-shirt kinda girl, asm solitaire suits me better! But who knows, my opinion alway changrs....:roll2:

Yeah your comment really got my head out of the numbers and others opinions, and got me to figure it out on my own. I took my time, looked at it in every light concievable, and came to the conclusion that its amazing bc i say so!!! :dance:
And yes my dss is severe...its almost like someone switched the stone overnight, haha! Im hoping that once i switch settings to the cvb,which has a much narrower band, it will look a bit bigger. Fingeres crossed!!!

It looks lovely on your hand. If you go too big, you might not end up wearing it all the time, then what would be the point? Perfect size IMVHO.

What type of lights? :o never seen a diamond with such a deep blue. Med blue fluor?:confused2:
