Hello! I am new here, so please excuse my lack of experience with this! I would greatly appreciate your opinion on my wedding set. I have a .78 round center diamond. From the pics you can see that my diamond is set in a diamond knife-edge engagement ring with a diamond knife-edge wedding band on either side. The pictures that I included show my set in different lights. Each band is 3 mm. Do you think my center diamond looks proportional with my bands? Sometimes I worry that my diamond is too small and, mainly from the top view, is overwhelmed by the bands and diamonds....but other times I think it all looks fantastic together. I especially like the side profile, as the diamond sits above all of the bands.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts on this!!

Welcome! I think it looks spectacular all together!

I personally really like your set. However if you are worried that your center is being swallowed by your set I would replace one of the blingy bands with either a plain band or just go down to 1 band.

They are perfectly in proportion and lovely

It's a lovely set, and very versatile! If you add a plain band like SB621 suggested, you'll have a set that will allow you to go from understated to full-on bling!

Thank you all for posting! I appreciate the feedback and kind words. :)

I think its a lovely set!

Hi, again! So I need your opinion on this combination. I still wear my original wedding band on my right hand. In the pics below, it's now with my engagement ring and 1 of my wedding bands. Which do you prefer? The 2 diamond bands or the 1 hand engraved band (Tacori) and 1 wedding band?

Thank you!

I don't think there's much in it, to be honest. Both look very similar to me and they are all gorgeous rings.

Do you have any photos with just your ring and one band? I think that would be my preferred look.

I prefer it wit the 2 matching bands - very pretty!

I would do your blingy wedding band on the bottom then ering and then your plain band on top. I think that would look great!

I would do only one blingy band on bottom... for some reason a substantial band (such as yours) on either side of an ering tends to make the solitaire appear smaller to me, but that's just an opinion. Either way, you have a gorgeous set! =)

Thank you all for your opinions and suggestions! I really want to wear a band on either side, because I like the symmetry. So, I ideally don't want to go down to one band.

One thing I have thought of doing is to add a halo of some sort. I think a diamond halo would be way too much. I think I have enough diamonds already! I have thought about doing some sort of an engraved halo. That would tie in my original engraved wedding band. I originally had an engraved wedding set but really missed the sparkle of diamonds, besides just my center stone. That's why I have the set that I do now. However, I miss having that engraved aspect on my wedding finger.

First question, do you think an engraved halo would look good with my set or no? Secondly, does anyone know of any engraved halos out there?

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I suppose I'm in the minority. My preference is one band with the engagement ring. I do think the two overwhelms the center stone a bit... But then, I'm not super partial to tons of little bling.

I love engraving and think your band is really lovely. This isn't exactly a halo, but I think it gives a nice idea of what an engraved halo might look like:

Or you could have an antique style halo with engraving:

Or diamonds incorporated into the shank with engraving:

nicoleanne - thank you so much for your suggestions, I really appreciate it! I would prefer just an engraved halo head though. I don't want to change my whole ring.

For those of you who suggested putting the engraved band on top, what do you think of these pictures compared to all of the other ones?

Thanks!

I think the set in your first picture is beautiful (ie, your e-ring w/ a diamond band on each side). You have the symmetry and the bling ... it's beautiful. I wouldn't change anything about your e-ring, it's perfect the way it is, and I think that adding a halo (engraved or blinged) to this set will distract from your diamond (and I know you don't want that ;)) ).

What I WOULD do, however, is get another engraved band to match the one you already have so that I could also wear them on either side of the e-ring. Like you, I really like symmetry and wearing the 2 engraved bands would allow for a nice change of pace when you don't want to go "full bling" .

I do like the last picture with the engraved band on top, because to be honest, it is the two diamond bands that are making your center diamond look smaller. Removing the top band altogether would be the best.

You've got two threads going asking essentially the same thing, which leads me to believe that there's something you don't like about your set. What is it that's bugging you about your set?

Hi. :) You are perceptive! Honestly, I love my set. I think that I sometimes over-scrutinize my it because, let's be real, I don't have the largest diamond out there, and I do have thicker bands. The original set was just the engagement ring and 1 wedding band. I added the 2nd diamond band for symmetry and as an anniversary ring. I just honestly don't know if everything looks proportional (because I'm obviously no expert) and I sometimes wonder if my diamond is too small for the set. I don't think it's too small from the side view, but sometimes I think it looks too small from the top. But really, how often am I only looking at my set from the top for an extended period of time?! I love my diamond and would never want to get a larger one.

So yes, those are my issues. ;) Some days I have no issues whatsoever and am extremely pleased with the set, but other days I wonder if I did it right. :)

Roxy - thank you so much for your input. Your idea to get a 2nd engraved band is a great one. I might do just that so that I can switch it up at times. And thank you also for your kind words about my set with the 2 diamond bands. :)

I commented in your other thread but I agree with the bolded above.

I also agree that two bands overwhelms the centre diamond. I would wear your e-ring with one wedding band on the bottom, either plain or diamonds.

Wow! It looks gorgeous, to me! I don't think the center looks too small at all. I love the way it all looks together. =)

Thank you!! :)

This is byyyyy FAR the best option. I think your set this way looks great. Your center looks huge and it is a great stack. When you had 2 bands it was overwhelming and a perfect example of less is more.

I already commented in your other thread, and excuse me for my bluntness but adding a halo is a horrible idea. It will not help and I think the overall look would be extremely overwhelming in a bad way. the proportions will be even more off.

If you have issues with your set- it really looks like it comes from your isues with the center diamond size. At .80ctw that is over the national average and personally I think it is a lovely size, but to each their own.

For me you have 2 options:
-Ditch your current set and redo it with a halo. Perhaps a plain shank/ diamond halo will work well with your current wedding bands. That way you can have the two flanking it. This would probably be cheaper then redoing your head. Keep your current ering and throw a colored stone in there and use as a RHR.
-Upgrade your center stone- keep your current set. Perhaps the two matching bands will be more proportional in your eyes then.

Thank you for your feedback, truly. I will hold off on the halo idea, I see your point. I just really don't want to get any new rings, and I love the idea of wearing the engraved band. What do you think of that band on the bottom verses the top? I kind of like that more. We were out shopping, took some pics in better lighting... ;)

Meganmomma you're TOO funny LOL   . Honestly, every combination you've shown us looks good on your hand, they really do! If you choose to mix the bands (vs wearing 2 of the same on each side of your e-ring), then your dilemma will be that even though YOU are seeing your set from one perspective, the other person will (more than likely) be seeing it the other way around. So, for example in the latest pics that you've posted, when YOU look down at your hand the engraved band is on the "bottom" and the diamond band is on the "top". However, if I was on the other side of the room looking down at your hand, I'd see the engraved band on the "top" and the diamond band on the "bottom". Do you see what I mean?

Now, it's not like that's a bad thing, since I sincerely think that every combination looks good on you, but if you want to present a certain "look" to the viewer, then you'll need to try out each combination and check to see how each one looks in the mirror to see what the other person will be seeing.

Okay, so I'm probably making absolutely NO sense and need to "step away from the computer" because I'm over-analyzing this a wee bit (ya think? :errrr: ). Just know that you're not the only one fixating on this type of thing (heck, it's one of the reasons that I like symmetry :)) ).

Roxy! Thank you for your advice. You bring up fair points and I think, right now, I like the ability to mix and match. Obviously I can't settle on one set, right?! One day, maybe I'll do a halo of some sort. I just my center diamond to stand out, that's all. I don't want new bands and I don't want to get a new diamond. My hubby picked that out for me and I love it. My wedding set came with the engagement ring and band and then I got a 3rd band. Realized after the fact how thick they all were together. So I guess I'm trying to figure out what the best move is, but I've become such an over-analyzer about it!! I'm just gonna take a step back. At least I can mix and match, like I said, and make a change down the road, when I REALLY know what I want.

Thanks again for your suggestions and support!!!!!!! And thanks to everyone else as well! I think everyone would agree that while we all love our rings, there are so many millions of other sizes, designs, etc etc, that it's easy to wish something was different....instead of just appreciating what we already have. :)

You're the only one who even sees your rings long enough to tell any difference among the umpty different combinations you've posted. To the casual observer, it's just bling and it all looks alike. Sparkly. From a distance and at real life size, you probably can't even tell much difference between the engraved band and the ones with diamonds.

So, as others have said, just mix it up. You're really the only one who cares and the only one it matters to so it's your opinion that counts.

GOOD MORNING! I've given it some thought, I've listened to all of your advice and feedback, I've had a decent night's sleep (kind of...we have kids and it stormed out last night...!), and I have some insight and a new idea. I DO NOT want to change my diamond and I DO NOT want to change my rings. I DO NOT want a halo, engraved or diamond. But what I DO WANT is to make my center diamond stand out more, I want the diamond and the head it sits in to "appear" larger by having a more substantial setting that also makes my entire set look more proportional. Does that all make sense?! I know, do I really make sense at this point?! ;)

With that being said....what do you guys think of a semi-bezel? This would only be replacing my current 6-prong, not my entire engagement ring. I would need a semi-bezel head.

I need your advice, good and bad. If you think it's a good idea, any suggestions?

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You all have been so helpful....
