Opinion: Tiffany Legacy inspired or HW inspired??

I'm resetting my ering and I'm considering a tiffany legacy inspired ring or the HW. I have a RB center stone which I'd like to try and keep but definitely open to replacing it with a cushion cut.

Which style do you prefer?
If you had to pick a designer for each who would you pick?

Right now I'm considering ERD, VC or Maytel Hannah.

Hi - I responded to your question on CAD vs Handforged on my thread, but thought I would respond to this question as well. In my opinion, I think the Legacy style has a more antique/unique look whereas HW is more modern/blingy. The HW is definitely more popular from what I have seen in my year on PS, so it really depends on what you like. Have you seen both styles in person? Both are beautiful and I hope to get a HW inspired ring some day too! If I had my preference, I would have had a cushion in a cushion halo, but I was working with the round diamond I had and wanted something different for a RHR (my ering is round).

I think you are looking at the right designers for your project. It comes down to who you think you can work with comfortably and your budget. You can do a search on PS for all of them and see reviews.

ERD is making either this, or this setting without the halo for another of our members. It's a lovely design.

There are hundreds of halo designs out there. Why spend 4-5k on a designer knock off?

Go with something original instead.

Can you take the elements you like from each and combine them? Do you like milgrain? Do you prefer the basket/doughnut or the cathedral profile?

Thanks for the input! I love the antique look which is why the legacy has always appealed to me but there's also something so beautiful about the HW. The HW looks more dainty to me while the legacy looks to have more metal. I'm working with a RB stone which I'd love to replace with a cushion but that might be pushing it too far with my husband!!

I love the idea of trying to combine the two to create something unique. Gypsy, I love the link you sent to the Caroline Halo. Definitely unique but beautiful. Have you seen any other beauties on PS or elsewhere worth checking out?

I'm amazed by the wealth of knowledge on this site and appreciate all the input.

I would go with ERD or Single stone if you persue the Legacy. I have yet to see anything like it done well come from the people who hand forge. I think that setting does better with cast.

If you go HW then ERD, VC, SK, LM, SS, HM all the usual suspects can do it great. It is just a matter of who you want to do it for pricing, who is closest to you geographically etc.

I personally wouldn’t rush into anything! It sounds like you aren’t happy with the quality of your current halo and I kind of wonder if a remake of it will even make you happy? Maybe the style just doesn’t appeal to you in general? (I could be TOTALLY offbase though!!!) I would definitely go and try on different styles before you make your final decision. The Legacy wasn’t even on my radar until I tried it on and I fell in love with it! (I hope it wasn’t just the fancy lighting at Tiffany’s that made me love it!) I even tried on a solitaire recently (never have before) and I was surprised at how much I liked it!! Sometimes trying on different styles can be helpful in finding what really appeals to you!

I do like Gypsy's suggestions for something unique!
