Opinion on this diamond

Hello All,

I'm hoping to get an opinion on a diamond I think I like a lot. It's an I color VS2 brilliant modified cushion 68 depth and 64 table. It seems to face up bigger than a lot I've looked at most likely due to the crown not being very tall. I do not like the look of a big deep diamond so I'm drawn to this aspect. I'm wondering if any experts can weigh in on this. I do like sparkle, and I don't mind a very slight bit of warmth (re the I color), is this the right stone for me? Will be set in 18K gold as a solitaire. Any advice would be much appreciated!!! The online photos look great to me.d4_2.pngd3.png

It is bright, a little short on the crown. If you let us know your parameters, we can help you pick 2 more for the gemologist to look at.

I'm simply looking for a very beautiful diamond in the 1.2-1.5 range for 8-10K. grades and ratios are not any concern of mine if the diamond has no visible flaws and is very sparkly. I want a solitaire, so I would like the diamond to look as large as possible while still having good brilliance.

what are its dimensions?

NVM, i found it. Geometric average, 6.82 mm, arithmetic average, 6.84 mm.

From JA, these are pretty much the only things I found that is going to match your pick in terms of size.

These two are my favorites:
I also really like this one if you want a longer stone like the first pick, it is a very curvy cushion, almost an oval shape: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9995/

Finally, I love the look of this one, and it is an H color, and really good crown height: http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-5044728-1.70-carat-Cushion-diamond-H-color-VS1-Clarity.aspx?sku=5044728&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

Thanks, I don't particularly like the look of the two James allen ones, especially in terms of shape. The longer shape is what I like more. Can you tell me what in particular makes these options better choices than the stone I've been looking at?

The two JA ones are not necessarily better options. JA gives you 3 evaluations for free if you do it at once. I don't think it is in most people's best interest to just evaluate one, because then they cannot tell you which one they like more. But if you''re definitely sure you aren't interested, then don't bother.

If you like the long shape, I love the GOG one. For me, the shape is more pleasing, and it also has nice crown height. But if you like the squared shoulder look, the JA one might be for you.

Two more B2C options:

I think Julie picked some beautiful options; it is so interesting how much variety one can find within cushions. I used to think I did not like them but now I am really really liking this shape a lot, the square ones and the rounded ones as well but this is a matter of preference and very subjective because I personally prefer the chunkier ones. I think all the stones posted by Julie are really nice but really liked the third option with the rounded edges.

We really need a straight on picture of the stone you are looking at and an aset image. Do you have a link to it?

You want to try to find stones that have a clear crisp faceting pattern and don't have a lot of mush under
the table (you'll see this especially around the inside edge of the table).

Most people tend to like a symmetric faceting pattern.

Examples of what you dont want (its easier to find bad examples than good examples)

Not a clear faceting pattern under the table...

Mush on the inner edge of the table...

This one has a pretty clear faceting pattern with not much mush but I dont think its particularly pretty...

Ok...so here is my short list (actually its kind of long). You would need to narrow it down to the ones you like,
ask JA if they are eye-clean and if so, ask for an aset image (on your favorite 3).

Edit...
BTW, its 2 pages worth so make sure you look at both pages.

These are my favorites (shorter list)

The one I am posting about is in your short list (well your longer short lost) so that's a great sign! Thanks!
