Would like to know what your opinion on the setting I picked out for round cut . There's two diamonds I'm interested in, #1 from JA . #2 is WF Would love to hear people's opinions on them . The setting I plan to get in platinum. With two side stones and maybe make the band to be 3.5?

Is the setting for you? If not, what are the recipient's preferences? Personally, I don't find the setting you posted to be very flattering... It looks like it has the diamond sitting inside a 4-prong setting with shoulders that come up on each side of the diamond and sort of "bookend" it? Do you have any more pics of the setting or a link to it?

She picked it out. But if anyone sees anything wrong with setting for the diamond do tell. We are open to hear everyone else experience.

In the first picture you posted, it looks like the diamond is set by just welding a 4 prong setting between the shoulders, which are then just left hanging in the air. If she likes a "surprise" diamond setting (what they're called when there are little diamonds set on each side under the gallery), there are better options that are more fluid. Andy thoughts on this one: http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/sisley-solitaire-engagement-ring-by-vatche-1359.htm

It's just one example. I know you were looking at Whiteflash... I will try to find more examples.

She says band looks too plain, but likes the "surprise" diamond. The reason she liked the other one was that the sides comes up making it look like a fake tension bar for the diamond. Different from others that she had seen.

Well, if that's what she likes! It just seems a bit unfinished because they hang in the air. And also really susceptible to getting hung up and caught on stuff. Also, keep in mind that because of the size of whatever diamond you pick will most likely be different than the one in the example pic, you may not get that faux tension setting look. For example, your diamond could be too large to set inside or between those shoulders, so instead, it might have to be set above it. It would just depend on the width between the hanging shoulders on the stock setting.
Just out of curiosity, why not get an actual tension setting or the more secure option of a semi-bezel instead?

No surprise diamond, but a similar look. Notice it says 6.5mm (1ct) is ideal for the stock setting but that it can be set with 0.50-2ct. Depending on the size, like the setting you posted above, the final look will vary.

These are pretty close and have "surprise diamonds":

No surprise diamonds but maybe her style:

sholdt semi-bezel:

*If she likes the semi/half bezel look, Whiteflash has a lot of options for this.

Just including this one because I saw it in my search and thought it was neat! I've never seen one like this before: https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/tension/14k-white-gold-pave-crown-bezel-engagement-ring-item-53324

The reason why she doesn't bezel is that she had problems with stones falling out of them before. So she wants something more secure like a 6 prongs or even double claws. Even a 4 prongs that's thicker than those delicate tiny dot prongs.

She likes your suggestion of this one

With the surprise look but not sure if it very secure since the stone is just floating in air with 4prongs.

Was looking at this one. But with her she might want the band without all the little stones. Just the side stones?

Wait...how on earth did she have a stone fall out of a bezel?!
Also, if she has really specific desires for her setting, have you considered getting a custom setting made?

On that I'm not sure myself but she did. Not a very delicate girl my gal. But yeah she wants something different , not too flashy, no bezel . I just saw these not sure she will like but what's your opinion?

I would go to a bunch of jewelry stores and have her try on rings in person...but don't buy anything! Just to get an idea of what she REALLY likes. These settings are all across the board in regards to style and look. There is often a huge difference between what you *think* you will like and what you end up liking in person. A bezel setting is generally regarded as the MOST secure and protective setting for a stone, so If she lost a stone from a bezel, I'm not sure what to tell you! Are you sure it was a bezel? Not a tension setting or something like that? These newest settings that you have posted are MUCH more delicate with their halos and pave work.
