From my friends I have heard they look realistic in pictures I have sent them and posted on facebook. However, I would LOVE everyone's opinion honestly, since you all do not know me personally. I may be able to get a better perspective. Please do not feel like you are hurting my feelings by telling me they look dumb! 149871_1583027588581_1622470666_1331246_1608823_n.jpg

My wedding is a 1940's vintage theme. So pearls, white/ivory roses, and lace are most prominent in the wedding :))..

I think they look beautiful!

Oh wow, those are coffee filters?? They look really good - very realistic!

Too cool! I really like them a lot.

the first few I tried to make looked like crap, #1 because I used a very thin wire to attach them to and the floral tape was ripping when I would pull on it.. So I ran to Michaels today to get new wooden sticks for the flowers and new floral tape, and VOILA.. I went from making 1 in an hour and a half to making 8 in an hour and a half!! Very simple to do once you get the hang of it, and they can be any color your heart pleases, I am thinking about running a light orange hue across the tip of the roses to give them some texture..

So awesome!!!!!

I think they look really cool! I also like the idea of orange on the tips. I think they look pretty the way they are, but the extra color would make them "pop"!

wow, I think they look awesome! Great job Nicole! :appl: :appl:

Ditto the others - they're really impressive!

i think those look awesome! how did you do them? my BFF is getting married in the spring & thinking about making/using paper flowers in her centerpieces. great job nicoleben

Wow, Nicole, these look awesome! And I think the orange on the tips would also look amazing!

It was hard at first, but after yesterday I feel like a pro, I could probably sit there all day and get them done! I need about 150 of them haha.

I got the templates and instructions from marthastewart.com, if you go to www.mommymakesroses.com it will show you the link. The lady sells these things for outrageous prices, maybe I should start selling mine once I get them down pat!!

You just cut the templates out, get a good stick or wire and VERY good floral tape (don't buy the dollar kind, when you stretch it too far, it rips) , Scissors, cone shaped coffee filters (400 for 4$ at costco) and water colour paints. Even if you want your roses white or ivory, you still have to watercolor them so they stiffen up enough for you to curl them. Also keep in mind if you are unsure how to use floral tape, you need to stretch it while you are working, or it will not stick. I have found on a couple of my flowers they unravel towaards the bottom of the stick because I didn't pull it tight enough, but trial and error!! Then take a dowel and once the flower is dry, you curl the ends :) All done!!

I will be 100% honest...that beautiful bouquet was NOT what I was expecting to see when I opened this thread, nicoleben!!!

Those roses look positively fabulous and I think orange tips would look amazing! I am really, seriously impressed!

When you get a final "look" assembled (either a bouquet or a centerpiece or whatever you're using them for) be sure to post them in the DIY thread!!!

Ditto to this!! The thread title caught my eye, and I wasn't sure what to expect. These are GORGEOUS! And I think that they are so appropriate to your 1940's vintage theme.

Congratulations and I can't wait to see more. I love the idea of tipping them with color.

These are really cool! How did you think about making them? Especially with coffee filters! Is that the arrangement you're thinking of? It's so cool!

Gorgeous!!

Wow. That's amazing. Let's see more pictures.

I'd love to see how you make them too.

I am in the midst of putting together a DIY thing-a-ma-jig. I will try my best, honestly, once you get the hang of it, you can do them without looking. Yay, I am so glad everyone likes them :))

I am doing actual flowers for my bouquet and bridesmaids, because it is in my budget, however, I really wanted flowers as my centerpeices as well, but unfortunatlely my funds won't cover them. I was thinking instead of just candles, I could do these flowers on each table with maybe some candles around them to dress it up a little.. wrap the vase in lace and black ribbon, or put black rocks in the botton of the vase to cover the stems and make the flowers pop.. just some ideas running through my head..

Thank you all for your support :)) Such a relief!

NB, these are fabulous! You are so talented. I think they'll make beautiful centerpieces--they'll look so romantic with some votives around them. Great job!

I think they look fabulous! You could also do a silver ribbon around a jar to make things glamorous. Something like this, but with silver and black ribbons instead of country cream like the photo:

you took my idea right out of my head haha.. We are thinking about filling with black pearls or black rocks, or leave them empty and wrap lace around the middle and tie a black satin ribbon on top of that! I didn't know how crafty I was until I put my mind to it, and ..... my fiance wants to learn to make them so he will help me get them all done, including his aunt which can't wait to learn and his mother helping as well.. :))
