I''m not going to list what price I can buy this diamond at because I simply want your opinions on how this diamond sounds, not what a bargain it might be:

1.01 carat princess cut
J color
VS2
Polish: Very Good
Symmety: Very Good
Measurements: 5.51x5.36c3.89
Depth: 72.6%
Table: 68%

I know that J isn''t the best color rating, but I''m mostly concerned with the cut of the diamond and know that a depth of 72.6 and table of 68, falls within the recommended specs listed on this site! So what do you all think about how beautiful and brilliant this diamond could be?

Thanks!

No one here will be able to tell you how beautiful the diamond will be with the limited information given. While I can tell you it looks like you are off on the right track, the table and depth %''s do not gaurantee anything. Have you seen the diamond...if so then trust your eyes. If this is through an internet vendor then ask them for a sarin and light scope image. The sarin will provide the more vital numbers than can help gauge a diamonds peformance. The light scope will show you visually how much light return and how much light leakage you have. If it ends up being a brilliant diamond, then that will help to mask the J color, but there is no way to know from the numbers you have. I looked at several princess cuts with numbers almost identical to yours that were poor performers, so be sure to acquire as much information about the stone as you can.

Sean,

No disrespect but I think you''re wrong. There is much to be told from the numbers. This stone looks like an exceptional princess and should be a great performer.

Bergman,

Great cuts hide color but a "J" is still a "J". I typically recommend that people stick with "I" or better in princess cuts. You''ll find lots of people who prefer "warm" diamonds, but if your girl ain''t one of them then finding a similarly proportioned "H" diamond that''s a clean SI1 might be something to consider.
