Hello everyone!

After a lot of lurking and seeing how friendly and knowledgeable everyone here seems to be, I thought I would make my first post to ask for an opinion on a ring I may be getting.

I'm trying to find a Halo engagement ring similar to this one from Ritani:
http://www.ritani.com/engagement-ri...iamond-band-engagement-ring-in-palladium/4773

My original budget was $1500, but after a lot of searching it seemed that I would have to make some compromises I didn't want to make to fit within that budget. So now I'm shooting for $2000. I'm currently looking at this ring from Eternity by Yoni:
http://www.eternitybyyoni.com/engag...ngagement-ring/Cushion-Halo-Pave-Ring-505.htm

Yoni said that they could easily find the same stone for the same price as this on from enchanteddiamonds.com:
http://www.enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/C50-A7WA1C

Does anyone have any better suggestions, or would this ring and diamond get a thumbs up?

Also, I'm planning on looking at some local stores tomorrow just to make sure there's nothing I'm missing, but I'm not expecting to find much that is within my price range and criteria.

Thanks for the help!!!

Hi bsikes and welcome!

I just wanted to clarify, the shape of the diamonds in both cushion halo settings are actually rounds, the stone from Enchanted Diamonds is a cushion. Did you want a cushion in the cushion halo setting or are you ok with a round diamond as in the images? I can't see if there is an option to have a cushion cut in that design unless I am missing it, or the vendor said you have that option? As for the cushion stone you posted, unfortunately we would only be guessing if it is a good looking diamond or not as images for these shapes are absolutely essential. But if you could let us know if you would like a round diamond as in the designs or really would prefer a cushion - if one could fit the setting, then we can go from there.

From what her best friend has told me, it would be a cushion stone in a cushion setting. I'll ask her to clarify though that she meant the stone and the setting, and not just the setting.

Yoni said it would cost around $200 to customize the setting to the stones specifications.

Thanks for the quick reply!

You are welcome! That would be very useful if you could get that info please, just check with the vendor too that the setting can accommodate a cushion shape if that is what's required for the price. I would want to be sure if the shape of the stone changes from the round shown in the image, that a cushion would be able to fit and if the $200 quoted would cover the cost of that too.

Alright, sounds like ideally it would be a cushion stone in a cushion setting, but that its more important that the setting be cushion than the stone. And the $200 would include setting any kind of stone in the ring.

I would put a round in it.

Can you ask them to find you an ideal cut, around .4 cts I/J SI stone for the setting? Ask for an Ideal Scope.

I agree with JulieN... A round is going to sparkle more and give you more finger coverage for the ct weight.

msop, you would know! Love your ring!

I can't see the report, but if it is an eye-clean AGS 0, that sounds good.

Never mind, I guess that diamond isn't available anymore. Any thoughts on this one?

Anyone?

As far as I know it looks good... But I don't know a lot, so that's not saying much.

Thanks again for the help! I'm feeling a lot more confident then I was two days ago!

Terribly splintery looking , it is a nontraditional round

Ok. I'm looking at a few other places right now, but I don't seem to be finding pictures of the stone, just sample images. Is getting a picture necessary, regardless of the GIA report?

Back again! I hope double/third posts aren't a problem, I couldn't find the edit post button

I've got about 10 tabs open with different potential diamonds that fall into my price/quality range (from what I know of quality at least.

These are the three that have ideal scopes:

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d.../0.360-h-vs1-round-diamond-ags-c-104065358031

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d.../0.383-i-si1-round-diamond-ags-c-104069462031 marked as reserved.

I'm trying to stick close to the .4 carats that JulieN suggested. I can also post the other links here if anyone wants them, but none of them provide pictures or ideal scopes.

But I'm off to look to look at some local jewelry stores, so hopefully I'm blown away by their great quality and prices
