The price was $10960. The price seemed almost too good to be true but the HCA and IS images checked out pretty good. I do see the black crystal near the edge of the table but it doesn't seem like it would be eye-visible under normal conditions. I of course don't need a "D" color but there were barely any F or G's at this price. What do you guys think of it?

No, it doesn't look eye-clean.

These were the other 2 options, which had significant jumps in price

The gemologist at JA said they were all eye-clean, and ranked the diamonds in the order that I posted in terms of brightness and visual performance (i.e. the 1.41 D SI1 the best and the 1.48 D SI1 third). The first diamond does seem to have more intense red in the table, but honestly all the IS images look pretty good. However we'll see when I receive the first diamond - excited to compare it to a J color BG Blue =)

I'm a little surprised by his ranking in that the actual 360 video seems a little underwhelming compared to some other diamonds on JA I've seen where the facets fire off much more and with a wider range of color - has anyone else experienced this?

Yep. Diamond #1 is cut for more brilliance, #'2 and 3 are cut for more fire. #2 is probably the best balanced one of the bunch.

So I have received the first diamond (1.41 D SI1), and verified it is completely eye-clean. After comparing it with my BG blue "J" I notice the sparkle difference is minimal but there, but I can no longer "unsee" the tint in the J and love the whiteness of the D. I'm thinking about maybe returning both and going with this http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d...1.295-g-si1-round-diamond-ags-bl-104069928006, but at this point I've gone from a 1.55 J, to a 1.48 J, to a 1.41 D, and to go to a 1.3 I'm getting DSS before I've even bought the ring! This process is so hard =(

If I decide to go with this first diamond from JA do you recommend getting it independently appraised and then insured before having it mounted locally?
