Hello,

I recently put down a deposit (refundable) on a 1.3 Ct Radiant. The total price is $7,150 and I was curious if I'm getting a good deal or not? The other option I was looking at was a more rectangular cushion, but I'm having troubling finding a diamond in the 1.2 L/W ratio in my budget of around $7,500.

Grader: GIA
Carat: 1.3
Color: H
Clarity: SI1
Polish: very good
Sym: good
Flor: none
Cutlet: none
Measurements: 6.7 x 5.7 x 3.92
Total depth 68%
Table size 65 %

Unfortunately you can't judge fancy cuts by the numbers- they have to be seen. Preferably you need an ASET image to help assess the light performance. Can you get an ASET? And more importantly are you happy with what you saw in person?

L/w ratio and numbers mean nothing. It could be a dog or it could be gorgeous. You need pictures and an ASET image.

I did see it in person and it looked good to the very untrained eye. Are ASET reports pretty standard? If I talk to the retailer would it be readily available or is this test done only on request?

It's not a test. It's a scope that evaluates light performance by type.

You can work with a jeweler that has one (many PS jewelers have them, but it is unlikely a common jeweler will have one). Either in person, or long distance. If long distance they can take a picture using one and send it to you. And you can post it here an we can tell you what we see.

You can take your stone to an INDEPENDENT appraiser that has one (you will need a bullet proof 7 day full refund return policy, no questions asked and then take the stone to the appraiser). We only recommend independent appraisers.

Or you can buy one yourself and take it with you when you are shopping in person and learn to use one (fairly easy. You want more red then green and very little blue and then only for patterning).

What a jeweler on PS's listing will look like with images and ASET images so you can make an educated purchase. Also, Good Old Gold, for example, will make you a video on top of this detailed listing: Both are radiants. One is a hearts and arrows radiant (branded) and the other is a generic one. Both are very nice ones, so you can see what their ASETs look like.

I have no idea what you are saying about ratios. Do you WANT a particular ratio?

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking for a more rectangular radiant so the L/W is a little important to me. Are there any "ideal" depth or table ratios for radiants?

Also, I've included some pictures (although they may be too small).

Nope. No numbers can help you.

The pictures were helpful. I can't tell you about performance but it looks like a typical radiant. Can you get a return policy on it and take it to an appraiser local to you (I gave you link above).
