Opinion on 0.77ct IF diamond

I like this much better. The one you posted has a very strong area in the middle with poor light return. JA will only give you up to 3 ASET images per email of the requestor, so put these on hold and let's see what other fancy lovers post. I assume the intended wearer specifically said they wanted a marquise....they are very love/hate relative to the shape.

Yes, she loves the Marquise, in an East-West halo setting! =)2

I'm in an online consultation with a JA representative, and strangely enough they also recommended the 0.83ct, as did you! =)2

Great minds...

Make sure to put it on hold and ask for an ASET image. Then, post that here. We'll have a look.

This was the reply from a JA representative, when I requested for an ASET image. What are your thoughts on it?

Hi Azmath,
Thank you for contacting us today! I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.
Not all diamonds have additional imaging services available. Unfortunately the diamond we have on hold for you does not already have an image on file, and is located with an overseas diamond partner, so it can't be brought in for imaging unless it is purchased first. If you'd like to set up a request for ASETs, we can help you finalize the order and have it brought in. Producing the image and sending it to you can add about five business days to your order's shipping or production time, so if you're on a timeline, I would not recommend moving forward with the image request.
It is a lovely marquise cut, really lively with a minimal bow tie and no indication of light leakage in the video. The magnified video actually gives you far more light performance information than an ASET would, since ASETs only show one angle. Please let me know how you'd like to proceed, and I'll be happy to help.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!
Best,
David

I feel it is strong enough to order, if it was me. They will shoot the ASET before setting. You can post here and swap the stone if not great enough. Then, you can find another if its not great. Maybe they will keep the other one I recommend on hold as a backup. But, you have to make the call.

Thanks very much for ALL your feedback, and suggestions, @rockysalamander ! I really appreciate that very much! =)2

I have placed an order for this one: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/marquise-cut/0.83-carat-f-color-vs1-clarity-sku-4546367 {9.15*4.89*3.1}

They said the ASET images would delay the order by 5-7 days, so I just went ahead and confirmed the order. I'm sort of racing a clock! ;)2 I have absolute confidence that this rock is GORGEOUS! My girlfriend, soon to be fiancee, will absolutely adore it, I'm sure!!!

She loves the East-West Halo setting, and I'll be sending the stone to RockHer.com to have it set in this: https://www.rockher.com/marquise-sh...with-diamond-pave-shank-in-platinum-1-2-ct-tw.

Thanks very much, again, for all your help!

Be aware that an H/I halo will not be a match for your F diamond, and it doesn’t say who certified the color either so it could be a lot lower than even I. I would consider going with a well reputed vendor for the setting, for the best result.

gorgeous stone, nice choice!!!

I checked out the IG for that site and really not impressed with their halo settings. :( which is a real shame because the setting you like seems like it would be really pretty and there are NOT a lot of EW marquise settings readily available.

how much of a time crunch are you in? You could get a quote from David Klass on a similar setting.

Ritani actually has a setting that is similar and more than likely a much nicer quality setting. You could probably find a local jeweler to purchase the setting from and have him set the stone. (i'd lie through my teeth and say that the stone was a gift from your mom or something so your're not explaining purchasing online)

That Ritani setting is lovely! I wonder if JA can order from them? If not, I bet you could contact ID Jewelry in NY to ask them if they can and would set the diamond.

Rocky found you a lovely one, the stone looks great!

I must say after reading this thread that the OP is a gem and his desire to please his future fiancee is wonderful. I think the ring is going to be very unique and the receiver of the ring is going to get tons of oohs and aahsssss (and a few "I want one like that"!).. this makes PS a great place.. great people, wish it was around in 87 when I was getting engaged.. :) (of course I wish the internet was around too :) )
