oops,i think i may want another shape but bf is paying one off!

hi all,i have a dilema...as far as i know my bf is currently paying off a princess stone from a jeweler friend in nyc...but i think i may like another shape like pear or rb!!i think i need to look at more stones before i bring it up but the stores in nyc district are like hawks,"just looking" is not good enough,i feel alot of pressure from them...where can i go and look to my hearts content without driving people crazy!!!...help...

First place I would look would be to browse the "show me the ring" folder. You can get a very good idea at how many cuts will look.

You are in a tricky situation though. If you expressed interest in a princess and your bf did lots of work finding one, he may be a bit upset if you go changing your mind. I know it's a ring you have to wear, but if he's anything like me, he has as much vested interest in it as you do.

Also, taking a drive out to Good Old Gold on Long Island might no be a bad idea. My experience with them has been very nice, very educational, and very low pressure. Jonathon has been great, even though I bought my stone from somewhere else.

thanks corey!i think a drive out to gog is worth it...and yes..i may have done it this time,my bf may not be too happy,all i know is that it may be a 2ct f vs1 or si1 w/2 .60 princess on each side.May not be quite the surprise but i still will be if i don't change my mind!!!Thank u again...

Harry Winston is just off the diamond district - they've got a large selection & won't pester you for browsing... and there's always Tiffany's for browsing - they're so used to people coming in and looking & they won't put any pressure on you...

ps, window shopping in the diamond district also works... just dont go inside & they wont bug you too much

Forgive my "brain fart" - i meant to say Michael C. Fina (not Harry Winston - i've not browsed in HW). MCF is around 45th/5th i believe... happy shopping!
