Hi All,

I came across a stone that has only one small cloud on the table (not smack in the middle...it''s off to the left) and a few pinpoints. I was surprised that the clarity grade is a VS2. I thought it''d be a VS1. I know that the location of inclusions play a part in a stone''s clarity grade but in this case the inclusions weren''t all clustered smack in the middle of the table or anything.

Do you think whoever graded this stone was being tough? Or that it must be a really bad cloud?? I''ve also seen a couple of other VS2 stones that only had two or three tiny clouds on the table...guess that''s enough to make it a VS2?

I have a VS2 and see nothing. i would be happy it is a VS2 since it cost less than a vs1

I am having the same question. I have a stone I am looking at with one small cloud way off to the left under the facets...and thats it. Hardly even visible on the plot, yet its listed as a VS2...I guess they found it quickly? lol

Technically speaking VS1 means that it was difficult for a skilled expert to see the inclusion under 10x and VS2 means it was somewhat easy. So that''s probably why it is a VS2, because it was easy for the person grading it to spot.

Gotta remember too, that Grading is not an exact science. There are rules, but ultimately humans make the decisions.

Trained humans,....... That know what they are looking for.

The Vendor''s loss on one step in clarity grade could easily be your gain!!

I was just thinking it might be too good to be true... started to think it must be a really bad cloud or affect the stone really negatively for it to get a VS2 grade (being that it''s the single main inclusion).

VS2 is what I have...........and it is gorgeous!!! Of course, each diamond is different, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!
