Maybe this is too personal but whatever...

Who reads?

Who brings their laptop?

I'm a dump and jump kinda gal.

DH likes to say he is "taking care of business" and brings his laptop in to do his fantasy football, facebook, etc.

"Who BRINGS their LAPTOP?"?!?!?!

LOL.

One wall of my bathroom is lined with bookshelves.

I'm a flush and rush gal. I'm not afraid of germs in many places, but loos freak me out. I do not want to spend any more time than necessary in a bathroom.

I read that huge colored diamonds book.
I'm not worried about getting it dirty since I don't, uhm, touch myself then touch the book.

I like, set the book down, then take care of the paperwork.

It's not that I'm a germaphobe or anything but why would I want to spend more time in the bathroom than absolutely necessary?? I mean, your butt's just hangin there. You'll invitably end up with a bright red ring around your butt (or so I've been told). The lighting's unflattering. If I'm going to sit, I'd rather sit on my couch. Or in a chair. On the floor. ANYWHERE else!!!

I guess you could say, I don't see the appeal.

I do it all, baby.

We have a fair number of toilet, toilet paper posts don't we?

Read.

I will kindly disagree. The lighting in my bathrooms are extremely flattering and my toilet is pretty comfortable.

I do. So do all my friends.

I can't believe I'm going to admit this...I play pinball on my Ipad!!! Oh, and sometimes I read Entertainment Weekly.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on my phone, or pet the dogs. Yeah the last one is a little weird isn't it?

Dude, I read everywhere.

Not at all! I always invite Layla in the bathroom with me :)

As a kid, I was a huge toilet-reader. To be fair, I read constantly--while eating, while brushing my teeth, while walking to school, while pretending I was playing outside because my parents said I had to, by nitelight when my parents thought I was asleep--so I definitely did not take bathroom breaks from reading.

These days, I get in and get out. In my house, the toilet room (we have a separate water closet) is absolutely the coldest place in the house. It doesn't really invite one to linger or lounge in there. And public restrooms? I try to get out as quickly as possible. Ick.

Yep - I have yet to find a place that I don't read in (ok, I do draw the line at public toilets - yuck!)

Whenever either one of us is going to be in the bathroom for, ahem, a longer period of time, we always say "I'm going to check the weather."

Backstory: You know the first time you and your SO go on vacation together and you're stuck with thoughts of: hotel room, one bathroom, paper-thin walls? Isn't that just the worst? Well, when DH and I went on our first trip, I said "hey, why don't you turn on the television and check the weather?" He said "I don't have to check the weather. We're in Jamaica. It's freaking gorgeous." I was like, "Seriously. Turn on the television. Turn it up LOUD."

So anyway, that always became our code for taking a you-know-what. I'm not sure when the change happened, but one day DH said "I'm gonna go check the weather" as he walked into the bathroom with his iPhone (which has a Weather Channel app). So now, he always takes his iPhone with him. I started doing it too, but sometimes I set my phone on the edge of our tub and leave it there. Then DH will go into the bathroom later and say "Oh honey? Were you having some 'me time' because you left your phone next to the toilet again?...."

It's still kinda humiliating.

Yikes. I don't spend any more time in the banyo than I absolutely am called upon to do. We're in a 3 BR, 1 Ba, and there's no fan in the bathroom. Hanging around in my own, personally generated air/odors is not appealing to me. Ever see a cat or dog "hang out" and read whether in the litterbox or outdoors? Nope. Me either. I liked Haven's expression--"flush and rush."

(Not that there isn't a scent of roses left behind me...)

Ok this is the funniest thread! Love it!!

For my part in this...blackberry(do a lot of texting while on the magic throne)...magazines...and, yes, even laptop at times!

I have ADD, so even a few minutes of sitting idly drives me crazy!

I agree. My 2 cats join me quite often!!

I don't like spending longer than necessary in the bathroom. I prefer to read/go on the laptop in bed.

My mind was just blown.

Mine too. I don't know anyone that does that. Maybe its because I haven't asked?

I've had quite a few different roomies over the last few years but I haven't seen someone carry a laptop to the toilet yet. I did have one one that casually hung her thongs up to dry on little towel holder by the bathroom sink. Sort of awkward..

I do what I need to do and go.

While we have what my DH calls a "spa" bathroom the only appreciable amount of time I spend in there is in the whirpool tub soaking and listening to music - sometimes I read then. Our toilet is in a separate spot connected to the bath and to tell you the truth I can find much nicer places to read where I can actually curl up with a book.

Makes me wonder.... who's posting from their LAPTOP in the Bathroom!!!

I don't have a laptop. To be honest, I'm pretty amazed that people surf the net while doing their business!!!
DH has a barrage of magazines that he keeps in there... Maxim, Saltwater Fisherman, Car & Driver, etc. I read whatever he's got in there... but I'm usually not a 'lemme sit here and read for 20 minutes' type of person. I'd rather read on my couch or in bed.

I'm usually chatting with my two buds...kittys Boo Boo and Taz. They feel left out if I dont invite them in  !

Autumn started this thread and takes her laptop to the loo....you KNOW this thread was started from there!

OMG. I have to admit, I'm surprised by the bathroom laptop users. Perhaps I'm over protective with my laptop, but I really don't want it in the bathroom.

Mostly, I spend my time trying to keep the door shut so I don't have small intruders. But, heaven forbid if you lock the door because then there is a bloody injury and the child can't get in. I do my thing as quickly as possible. DH acts like it's a freakin vacation! There are books, Play station, phone, who knows what else that he packs for his expedition. It actually bugs me. He also goes almost every day at work!! :errrr: He's even fallen asleep on the toilet at work! He felt the need to call me and tell me that he tried to stand up and fell straight forward because his legs were so asleep.
