I heard about it on the knot. The girls on there were saying that the ballroom is fine, but I don''t know where they got their information. The news story I read said that the first started on the third floor. The ballroom is on the second. I would think it could''ve done some damage. I put a call in to the event planner, but it was late last night and I don''t know when she''ll be able to get back into the building. I am going to be freaking out until I hear good news. I know that they will have almost a year to fix it if there''s damage, but I''m still freaking out. Everyone please keep your fingers crossed and send good vibes this way!

I saw this on the news this morning. They didn't show any pictures, so it's hard to tell what parts of the building were damaged the most. From the Observer-Reporter story, it sounds like the 2nd floor up was damaged by fire and smoke. It must not be really bad because they have already restored electricity to parts of the building. We've had parts of buildings burn here at my facility, and they've been 100% back to normal in less than 6 months. All it takes is money. I'm sure they'll get this fixed up soon.

Wow.. that sucks! Scary, too! I''m sure everything will be fine. Even if there is slight smoke damage or something, they will have everything beautiful and gorgeous by the time your wedding rolls around!

Robbie,

I''m so sorry! That''s so crazy, and a big stressor I''m sure. But you''ve got plenty of time, like you pointed out. They''ll have everything fixed by then, and look at it this way, now you get a newly remodeled reception venue as an added bonus.

Hopefully your planner will get all the details and update you regarding any changes to the facility, and how long repairs will take. If you aren''t comfortable with the progress in a couple of months, maybe look around for a backup venue. Also, you may want to go over your contract with the venue with your planner (and the venue management) to confirm that all the facilities and amenities promised to you under the contract will indeed be available and fixed by your wedding. Yes, I''m being nit picky, but it will help put your mind at ease and also protect your investment.
