Okay folks, I have no idea how much it costs yet... but what do you think? (Saw this designer''s stuff in a window... liked the look... found this on the web).

The side baggs...look kinda weird to me. Can't pin down why. Design seems very boxy maybe? Not sure.

, dontcha know... LOL. They will make custom changes to their settings (apparently) so I was thinking of asking (if it doesn''t cost the earth) if they could add a tapered baguette on the end of each shank diamond section... with millgrain.

Gypsy, you are a very bad girl! Yes, Good Old Gold does carry Sheldon Speyer. I tried hard to find some to look at in person but couldn''t. I love many of the SS rings, but I am not wild about the bezel on those sidestones. It reminds me very much of the Leon ring that Windowshopper (?) had that she was unhappy with. I don''t mean to rain on your (fake) parade or anything, but you asked.

I didn''t like the bulbous prongs in the pics on the website either, but my jeweler set my stone and I asked for claw-like prongs.
I''m not sure I really love the side stone deisgn in the setting you posted, though. But Sheldon Speyer is great with milgrain and engraving.

I just perused his website again ~ I wish it weren''t so dang annoying to navigate!

This has been an enlightening experience, I have to say. I can''t even apologize for tricking you all... since it was intentional and I''d be lying.

I dunno, his settings in the store were really delicate and fluid... Turtle I actually saw what I think was yours there and loved it. I MUCH prefer your prongs though.

I was hoping he did 18K... but then I found his website and saw that he does platinum only I was like... DRAT!


I think I like it because its a side stone setting I actually like for a smaller asscher (maybe) ... and I haven''t seen many of those. I like the milgrain it looks deco to me... and reminds me of surfgirl''s ring... plus it fits the antiqueness of the asscher without a lot of engraving and edwardian detail.

Still.. would have to modify it. And may not be able to afford it.

Well, doesn''t hurt to contact GOG to ask for pricing, does it? It is unfortunate for you that he only works in platinum.
We got my setting for a steal ~ the jeweler had it in his shop for a while and had it prior to the big platinum increases that occurred last year, so it was priced pretty well. I also got a SS wedding band (haven''t posted that yet ... I''m a bad PSer!) -- it was made for me a few months ago. We definitely paid more than I would have liked ... but still didn''t think it was really unreasonable. But, I''m not sure what your budget is ... any way, long-winded way to say try contacting GOG. You might be surprised.

Doh, I was writing my post while you posted (I''m slow!). I ended up with the SS band that I posted in my old thread. I''ll try to take some pics this weekend and post -- that whole wedding planning thing had me really busy the last few months!
