old ring from my dad

Hello first time here seem like a bunch of smart people! i wonder if you can help me out! my dad gave me this ring and im not really interested on the value but more interested in who is the handsome gentleman on this ring. Could anyone tell me that? it is a pure silver ring.

I need to correct my previous statement.
This is a cameo, because it is raised, not an intaglio. An intaglio is carved into the stone. I didn't want to give you incorrect information!
