If I had found PS before I got my diamond.... I STILL WOULDN''T HAVE ONE! Who can decide?!? There are so many freaking gorgeous choices it''s enough to make your head whirl. It took me 3 years on here to get a new SETTING, if I had to start the scratch I think my head would explode.

Seriously. I''d have to have two of everything!

I used to wonder what I would get if I had to start over with my post PS knowledge. And honestly, now I think I''d most likely be trapped in such an agony of indecision that I wouldn''t pick anything.

I know, I''m crazy... but does anyone ever feel that way? Like trying to chose a favorite among all the possible choices would be nearly impossible?

LOL yes, I feel exactly like that! While my diamond surely could have been better, I would still be debating - just one hour of browsing WF, JA, or any other PS vendor leaves me feeling all noodley and amazed.

I think choosing the diamond is the easy part here. I will never ever have the absolute perfect setting for myself, because I love everything I see around here, and second guess my decisions pretty much daily. I probably won''t change my diamond, I don''t see any need to upgrade really, even if it''s not ACA AGS OOO perfectly ideal etc. I''m too old to really care that much about something I need to use my glasses and a loupe to see!

LOL Gypsy. You have good taste in jewelry and there are so many pretty things...it would be confounding indeed.

I found my diamond after PS. It was exactly what I wanted. If I hadn''t found PS, I probably would have ended up with a princess thinking that it was the only square shape out there!

I am, however, glad I found my setting before I got too deep into PS. It''s not that I totally love it (I like it fine and never get sick of it) but with so many gorgeous settings coming up all the time, I never would have been able to settle for something!

You have pretty much summed up my problem right now! Too many good options, and I am indecisive in general. All the knowledge is a blessing and a curse IMO!

Right there with you! I've been thinking about an upgrade for over two years now... but I can't decide what I want!

Maybe I DO need to just go with one of each

Now, how to bring DH around to my way of thinking...

I have anxiety over this...I''m not engaged yet, but will be in the coming year or two, and I''m *not* looking forward to actually picking a ring...Since i''m the most indecisive person on this planet. Having access to this wealth of knowledge on PS just makes it worse...

While my diamond is not my issue, I do know that it''s going to take me (probably) a couple of years to decide what final design I want, and who to chose to do my yellow gold to platinum reset. I really have no idea at this point. I can totally sympathize Gypsy! Deciding on all of the design elements and details, and then choosing a vendor I can really converse with..... it''s a lot of decision making and the pressure of the "this will be it for the rest of my life" feeling is a bit too much sometimes.

This is exactly what is holding up my engagement!!! My SO said I have to be in love with the same design for a month before we can buy it since I''ve changed my mind so many times! And I haven''t been able to do it!

I think I may end up needing to take a hiatus from PS in order to do it....there are WAY too many beautiful rings on here!

Lol, my bf thinks I'm mad, I keep showing him new designs every couple of days saying "this is it honey, this is what I want as my forever ring"...2 days later I find a new "forever ring"...

I got my ring after PS, the setting was a surprice for my DH, I really like it but probably I would had chosed something different. I did chose the stone, and I had a really hard time chosing the stone. PS helped me a lot, to see how the stones look like in the hand.

I got my ring a couple of years into PS, but I think I only had a few hundred posts at the time, so I wasn''t as educated as I needed to be, and it dodn''t matter anyway, since my husband handled the entire process on his own. Thank goodness, because Gypsy, I''m with you - I''d still be trying to decide - Asscher or new OMC?

Definitely! I''ve found PS before my FI bought me a diamond ring. I gave me him too much information that he was feeling woozy. Plus, I can''t make up my mind on which shape I like best. Truthfully, I want to have one of each shape. Crazy, huh?

I agree! I''m so happy with the ring DH proposed with. If I had to choose my own ring, I think I would always wonder if I researched enough or had been too hasty in my decision. Other jewelry decisions I can handle.

I can''t even decide on which setting I want for my stone. I''m too indecisive. Before PS I would have probably liked anything simple. Now there are too many gorgeous types of ''simple'' settings.

decisions decisions.

To halo or not halo. That is the question......

If I could get past that initial decision, I''d be on my way. I love the look of halos, but will they look dated in years to come? >>

I feel the same way about my setting. I am so glad we bought my setting before PS. There are just so many gorgeous settings and it would be too hard to choose one!

It is so hard. On the one hand, I am very happy that my diamond is PS 'quality'-- I would have been bummed if we had bought it and then I found out it wasn't as nice a diamond as we thought we were getting. And I know that post PS I probably would have dropped in Clarity and Color and gone for a cushion.. but then there is the setting issue again. I probably wouldn't have halo'd, but then I adore my setting.

TOO MANY CHOICES.

Gemgirl, I don't think halos themselves will look dated at all. But there are certain styles of halos that might.

Bia, I know. Just thinking about the choices in plain solitaires is enough to make a person's head explode. Just Sholdt has like 4 I adore.

Joelly.. not crazy. There is an old thread titled "You know you are a PSer when..." you'd fit right in dear.

Lauren, I KNOW I thnk it would be cushion for me. But I do really love step cuts. So maybe an EC. And then there are ovals, which John doesn't care for... but that I heart.

Snlee-- I love your set. It was the first setting I saw that made me want just a gorgeous classic solitare.

Ha, so true.

I found PS the day after my fiance bought the ring (that I picked, with the diamond already set in it). Grand total of time we spent looking/educating ourselves about diamonds prior to making this purchase: about half an hour. I know, potential nightmare, right?

By sheer luck, it turned out better than I had any right to expect -- we paid a very fair price for a lovely OEC with beautiful flowery facets and I am dazzled every time I look at this stone -- and while there may be a reset in my future, I'll never part with this rock. But oh ho, I am very aware that it was just blind luck.

I just bought my first post-PS diamond this past Monday. It was not an ideal experience. I'll post about it at greater length some other time, but honestly I think being over-informed is a mixed blessing sometimes. And yeah, being aware of all the other tempting, lovely, expensive choices out there is a big part of that.

That said, I'll always be grateful to this board for its amazing expertise and the friendliness of the people on it.
