I recently purchased a 1.57ct OEC from @ihy138 that had a chip on the crown. I got several quotes to have it recut, and ultimately decided to use who Whiteflash had recommended- Southwest Diamond cutters (who just happen to be 15 min from my work). Ashley was able to clean up the crown and keep the diamond at 1.5ct. When I picked it up, I couldn’t believe what a good job he had done! The diamond looks amazing!

With the chip:

Congrats! I saw this diamond when it was for sale and I thought a re-cut would result in a significantly smaller diamond. Glad to see this is not the case and that the diamond is now extremely gorgeous. Well done!:appl:

If there was a prize for most incredible recut I think this one would win by a mile! Removing that chip whilst preserving the charm of the original patterning and losing so little weight... incredible job!! :appl:

So what will you be doing with her? :twisted2:

The original plan was to always put her into a pendent. Although she turned out so amazing I’m so tempted to put her in a ring so I can admire her all day long :kiss2:

Wow, it's hard to believe it's even the same stone. I had no idea a recut could turn out so well while losing so little weight. Beautiful stone. I'd be tempted to put it in a ring as well.

Wow indeed. It turned out amazing and how wonderful not to end up with a smaller diamond. It's a gorgeous diamond.

That is an amazing result! I never would have imagined that much weight could be kept! I would put that baby in a ring so I could see it all the time!

That is amazing! I, too, am surprised it didn't lose more weight!

This is what I call diamond rehab and not recut, though. They just polished out the chips and the cut of the diamond wasn't actually changed.

That transformation is amazing! You must be ecstatic!

Would you mind sharing information about the different cutters that you contacted? I have a MRB that has nicks in the girdle and I have been considering having it rehabbed. I am not sure if that would be considered a recut or not.

I don’t know... the table certainly changed. I think he had to do more than polish it out.

I contacted DK and BGD. The previous owner had also contacted single stone. Everyone’s quote was higher than my guy.

OH. MY. GOD. I am just seeing this now! The recut looks AMAZING!!! I'm so, so, so happy for you and how it turned out. I am also so glad it went to a loving home. I may be biased, but I think she needs to be a ring. I don't regret selling her at all but I am so glad it went to a PSer that I can spy on. :wavey: Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to see what you do with her.

I did buy a setting for her (and laid her in there to see how she looked), but she would get more use in a pendent. I approved the CADs with DK yesterday and am sending her off. I’ll post pictures when she’s done.

(Here is laying in a ring)
