Hi All! While waiting for my current ring to arrive home from a reset I started perusing Pricescope like a maniac. I recently discovered the beauty of OECs. I was thinking that my next purchase would be an OEC. My thought was to make a bezel pendant necklace with a 1/3 to 1/5 carat stone. I love the warmer colors.

Would this be too small to still notice the beauty?

Where would I find something like this?

Thanks for your feedback!

I love these but I think I misspoke the first time. I mean a bezeled pendant with one stone rather than multiple. I adjusted my original post. Thank you!

This my listing but I need to pull it as I've changed my mind but it will at least give you size perspective. My stone is pretty deep and doesn't face up like a half carat and it still has a nice neck presence to it. I can't find any other neck shots otherwise I would post them directly to the thread. I think the size your considering would be nice.

This one she may sell if she didn't find a trade but it was a LONG time ago.

I like the eBay listening but is that an OEC?

My personal view (and others may differ) is that the unique beauty of an OEC is in the petals under the table and the chunky facets which require something larger in size than the 1/3 to 1/2 carat you're looking for.

I think that I would agree with Rainwood. I am not sure that you would be able to appreciate the faceting at that size. I am curious to see what OEC owners think when they chime in.

I recently made an OEC pendant that it is a half carat size. This is the link to my thread about it so it should give you a good idea of what it will look like. Re the chunky facets and petals under the table - I feel like I can see/get the benefits of the chunky facets (i.e. looks different than a round brilliant) but I need to look fairly closely to see the petal design,

You might want to post a WTB message on the preloved board here in PS or on LT and DB to have people contact you should they have anything for sale

I agree with this statement. While a smaller OEC still might be beautiful you won't be able to really appreciate the chunky facets with the naked eye. It will still have a soft pretty glow however if you find one that makes you go ooh but in order to see those chunky monkey facets you need a bit larger. That is one of the reasons I went with MRBs for my studs. They are about half a carat each and I didn't think it was worth getting OECs at that size. Of course as with everything bling related YMMV but these are my thoughts.

Good luck!

While I agree to an extent (since I had a large AVR) I also owned .5 (1ctw) OEC studs and they were stunning and would have made a lovely necklace. I would share pictures but I can't find them anywhere!

To be fair it does depend somewhat on one's eyesight so yes you are right and it does depend on the individual though larger equals better appreciation of the chunky facets. I hope you find those photos to share with us!

Hmmmm. Lots to think about. I reached out to JBG. I saw a necklace they had that I like but it is out of my price range. I really don't want the diamond to be large so I may reconsider and go with a RB or something like an asscher.
