Also have been searching for a cheap setting since this more than max'ed out my budget. Any suggestions for a nice setting around $500?

This Stuller setting is nice, but I can't find a price online :stuller122004.jpg

Those look transitional-esque to me - shallower proportions, crisp blocky almost-checkerboard faceting... both very pretty and both of similar style! The culets are "leaking", yes - they're large and "open", which means that you can see right through them! I think open vs closed culets are pretty much stylistic preference with this type of stone. In older "OECs" you can often see the open culet reflected in the crown ("kozibe") but I don't see it in those pics or videos.

I think it's great that you're meeting the stones in-person and I think the best choice is whichever one your eyes pick IRL!! And definitely request Grace's advice... and she can opine on pronging inclusions, settings, etc. as well ::)

Thanks Yssie!

For #1, the culet definitely is large, but I am wondering about why the 2mm area surrounding the culet also appears see-through in the video in certain angles? Maybe it's my imagination?

I think you'll be very surprised how different they will look in reality! I can't even see the open culet in my diamond in real life! My diamond is about the same size as these. You'll be able to tell more when you see them. The magnified photos are great to see the facet pattern and inclusions, but that is not how they appear on your finger! Have fun!

Thank you DiamondSeeker! Your AVR is magnificent

The 2.17 came home with me =)
It has some light leakage and has shorter facets, but I liked the L color better than the 2.37 M color.

Grace was wearing a gorgeous new ring from her Erika Winters line (coming out March 1!) It has the most delicate milgrain

Thanks for looking and for the advice!

Congrats, it is a beauty.

Hi Congrats. What are you going to put it into?

Thanks Ariel144, Arkieb1, & JulieN! The Gabriel settings are well priced.

I plan to put it in a temporary setting, until I save up enough for a 8-prong. Loving this one from Grace:

I like the first one better. I know the other one is larger but I really like the L.

ETA: Should have read the whole thread. GREAT CHOICE!!!! It's gorgeous.

Thank you Gypsy!!

Congratulations!! I like your iphone shot, the COLORS ooohhhh!!! I also like the look of an 8 prong so it's going to look just lovely when you're finished :D .
