Harry, I have never heard of NYDX, neither good nor bad. I did my diamond search in NYC and know many helpful and honest Jewelers. What is NYDX's address? I work a block away from the Diamond District, I can go check it out for you, if you like? My instincts say to NEVER buy a diamond without getting an independant appraiser's OK BEFORE you purchase the stone. Some jewelers and retailers let you take it to the appraiser with your credit card as deposit, and when you return the diamond, they return the card. OR you can have them send it to an appraiser. I also know of a few appraisers in the area if you do find THE stone... GOOD LUCK!!

Nic, I think all those little jewellery stores where PhilMar is located is collectively called the NYDX. When you step outside PHIL's there is a round sign that says Diamond Exchange. I think thats what harry is talking about.

Well... prices are just numbers.

You also need to see some range of quality in this merchandise: it may be that all diamonds with the same GIA color and clarity grades are darn close in, well, color and clarity. But from the same material, two different cuts would yield two different diamonds. NYC is a greta place to see what this cut quality is all about and THEN hunt bargains.

The NYDEX is great for buying diamonds if you know as much about the merchandise as the sellers do, IMO.

Does this make anys sense ?

I work for a company called Signed Pieces for 2.5 years.

Signed Pieces exclusively sells jewelry from well-known makers such as
Tiffany, Cartier, Bulgari and Van Cleef & Arpels as well as diamonds that are certified by the Gemological Institute of America at prices substantially below retail.

Our website is WWW.SignedPieces.com

and our user name on ebay is signedpiecesinc.

This is what you need to request from a seller on 47th street when you are making a purchase:

1. Unconditional Refund (no restocking fee, or any other fees).

2. if you are buying a diamond, it must be G.I.A certified.

3. Visit more the one seller.

Thank you,
Best Regards,
