NYC Appraisers

Looking for an appraiser in NYC with decent prices.
Don't really need too much info about the 2ct stone, but just want to verify the stone is the same that was agreed upon and to have paperwork for insurance. I would also like to take the stone back once it is set to check the integrity of the setting and again to verify the stone is the same.
I looked into David Wolff and the prices are outrageous!

Any other recommendations? Thanks!

Let me rephrase - I am actually just looking to verify and get a note to send to insurance.

generally you would have to ring appraised once in the setting and then send it off . The company where you get your setting may give you an insurance appraisal. I am wondering why you would go to yet another independent appraiser when you will get one when you finish your ring. . At the time of setting they can confirm with the GIA paper work. Also get to know your own diamond.

I've had several pieces appraised by Gemlab. Was there just a couple of weeks ago and I believe they charge $65 per carat. Have been very happy with them each time.
