I love how some individuals with divine knowledge (?) are secure in the fact that THEY ALONE are capable of wading through the BS of an entertainment-driven society and deciding what is best for all. No one would EVER support social programs because they're interested in being kind, humane individuals and helping those who truly need a bit of assistance. They've only been DUPED by the liberal media into having the emotion of compassion.

I understand, DF. And agree, for what it's worth. I do not appreciate blanket statements that state I am "working hard to have all the...people...depend on the governmnet for handouts." Just because one sees the need for government assistance programs for those who genuinely qualify does not suggest that they are WORKING HARD to promote dole bludging (a great Australianism).

In a perfect world, everyone would either educate themselves or receive competent on-the-job training and have long, happy careers with no unexpected disasters or accidents. This doesn't happen. There are SO many life circumstances that can occur and quickly throw off someone's stable life...if they ever had the benefit of one in the first place, depending on the situation with their parents.

I dislike the idea of a 'welfare queen' as much as you. I work very hard for my money and don't like to see it frittered away on lazy, irresponsible people. However, I know of more than one upstanding individual who has TEMPORARILY relied on government assistance, be it WIC, food stamps, housing, etc. The thought of that safety net not being there for those who honestly need it...

i said to my wife ...you and our neighbor (Mr.& Mrs. Entitlement) across the street are both employed by the taxpayers,but the only difference is... if you don't go to work you don't get paid.
