I saw this diamond on ebay, and part of me thinks it's cool.

1.62cttw, E color, SI1 clarity, 11mm x 11mm of diamond bigness. :twirl:

Then part of me thinks it's like something from the Illuminati. :?

I can't decide if it's tacky, or not.

I contacted the vendor and no, it doesn't have an actual hole. It's just cut with the world's largest culet.

What do you think? Love it, or hate it?

I actually said out loud "ew. no".

But I did laugh at your illuminati comment.

I personally don't like it. The picture makes it look like it has a window, like colored stones can have.

Yeh, no, it wouldnt be for me. I could see how some people might think its cool though.

You would have to join a cult with that ring ilander!

Illuminati. lOL.

Oooooooh... NO!

Maybe if it were set with a solid piece of platinum underneath so that the white metal showed up through instead of pinkish finger, but even that would be a stretch...

lol!

No. It looks like a CZ...a poorly cut CZ for that matter. I would spend my money elsewhere.

Nooooo for me!!!

Not my style!

oh well........i love it. looks vintage and deco to me. very cool. i like open culets

Not a fan. Sorry! :blackeye:

I love the trillion shape and how it is set with the baguettes, but that particular stone... if it were me... would not be my dream trillion! I don't think I'm a fan of such a large culet.

Hate it...looks like a big old window and just doesn't suit the stone IMO. I love open culets too but it doesn't look right here (to me).

I have to agree with everyone who's against it. To me, the beauty of a culet is that it reflects in old cut stones, creating a cool pattern and reflecting light like an extra facet. The one in this trillion looks like a window. To bad though, because trillions can be quite brilliant (at least the small trillion sapphire I have is very sparkly).

Big "no" here. I like a little unique, but that's too much...

I vote "hate it".

Yeah... I'm not loving it...

it looks like an empty halo setting to me. :-/

"No Vote". Thanks for posting it though!

Have to admit I kinda like it - but I wonder if a different setting might work better (closed back bezel maybe?)

You mean the giant dark triangle of despare that sucks the all the life and joy from the center of the stone?

That's no culet, that's a black hole! Run before you're ensnared by its gravity well!

:errrr:

lol Illuminati.

Dislike the actual diamond, though I like the setting just fine.

Normally I love a nice big culet, but that's a little TOO big for me. I love the setting though, I've never seen that with a trillion shape before.

I wonder if the culet was cut super huge in order to get rid of an inclusion?

Haha .... no for me in every way unless .......... maybe I stick a color stone in that culet.

NOPE!!!!

Yep mount a well cut light blue zircon or other hi RI stone under it designed to reflect colored light back up the culet.

Hmmm or maybe the person wanted it set so low that the culet had to be chopped off to make it fit?

I love all thing antique / culets / a little bit quirky but i don't like this either :(

i think diamonds are facetted for light return and sparkle and with a black hole that big it might as well be glass. and the rest of the diamond just looks cloudy and poorly cut

Nope, don't like it at all.
