I decided to risk an LOGR and I couldn't be happier. This is their "Legacy" setting which has a decent heft to it. I upgraded the diamond melees and also the 2 tone metal to 18K yellow/white gold. Under the loupe, H&A viewer and IS, the milgrain is decently even and the diamonds are very clean. In terms of cut, they range from good to average with a little leakage and minor fish eye on a few melees in the shank. The fish eye is not detectable with the naked eye but only when louped. Thankfully, melees in the halo are the better cut ones. Considering how little I paid, I'm not complaining about it. I'm wearing the LOGR on my middle finger which is a wee too snug but it's only for photography purposes so that you can compare it to my Signed Pieces band with very good to ideal cut diamonds.

I apologize for the crappy pictures as I took these just a few minutes ago with no regard for lighting and etc.

Full hand shot. I think my camera couldn't handle the sparkle so my stone ended up sort of weird looking.

Ooh, how purdy! I love the color on that stone. Can you tell us some more details about that green beauty?

Beautiful ring!

What is the reason that the green stone is rotated? Sorry I don't know what LORG stand for...

Nice choice for your Swala tsav C, I love green in YG..are you happy enough with the setting to go ahead and set the stone?

btw, I'm happy to see more photos of your tsav..makes me more eager to receive mine ;))

hi gempendants,
from what I can see Chrono hasn't had her tsavorite set in the ring yet, so it is just resting on top..

LOGR stands for "Lord Of Gem Rings" which is an ebay seller for diamond semi-mounts who has become popular with some members of this board.

hope that helps!

arjunajane, thank you so much! Now I see the stone is just placed on top. This setting is beautiful. It fits this stone perfectly.

Now I am looking for this Lord of Gem Rings on ebay... hope he sells pendant mounts, too. :D

I would like to apologize for not explaining clearly about the setting and stone. It's easy to forget that not everyone is familiar with the abbreviated words thrown around in CS or the history of our stones. The stone in question is a 2.15 ct tsavorite garnet measuring 7 x 7 mm, purchased from Swala.

I haven't set it for the longest time because my original plan was to have a 3 stone ring with 2 hot pink baguettes (or emerald cuts). Unfortunately, unless I was willing to accept heated or diffused pink sapphires, I could not find the right sidestones. I did find plenty of pink spinels but the colour wasn't saturated enough. However, I really want to set this tsavorite because it's a very bright pretty stone. As a temporary measure (or it might end up as a permanent setting, who knows? ), I ended up bidding and winning this Lord of Gem Rings setting.

Yes, the stone has not been mounted yet and has remained unset for over a year. I just received the setting tonight and will be bringing it to my local jeweller tomorrow, hence the rushed pictures.

Thanks AJJ. My original plan was a white metal but after reading about how tsavorites look better in high karat gold, I thought I'd try it for myself. When are you expecting to receive your tsavorite?

I think it is a beautiful stone which will look good in any setting. Logr was fne, though,

I'll be finalizing the purchase with Eric this week, so probably a couple weeks for shipping..it is almost twins with your one, size and shape wise, which is why I was happy to see more of yours.
I know you've had it for a while now, but did you find Swala's photos very accurate colour-wise?

I think you made a good choice with the YG, I look forward to seeing it set!

Oh yum Chrono. I like the look of that! The green of your tsavorite is great and for some reason I feel it's such a friendly gem, sitting in its ring sparkling away :)

Boy, I am glad you clarified that! I didn't know what to say about the stone!

Very nice! Thats a great pairing Chrono!

This is going to be a beautiful ring, Chrono-- although when you described what your original plan had been (w/ the pink sapphires) my jaw dropped because if you could ever find the right stones that would be phenomenal! I hope you are planning on posting pictures of o the tsav once it is set in its (temporary?) home.

I bought a tsavorite from Swala recently, and found that the vendor photo was not nearly as lovely as the stone I received, but Eric's description was right on the mark. Was that your experience as well?

AJJ and Aoife,
I purchased my tsavorite when Swala was just starting out in the online gem sales world. At that time, their pictures were, to put it bluntly, sucked big time. I passed on this tsavorite numerous times because the picture showed a horribly extinct dark green stone but decided to contact Eric anyway. He took an outdoor picture and a hand shot which sealed the deal because it was a huge improvement over the initial picture. Naturally I was still somewhat nervous but seeing the stone in person was worth it. It looks much better than all the pictures he took and not only that, I was viewing 3 other tsavorites (from other vendors) at the same time and this one was the best. I noticed that Swala’s photography has improved by leaps and bounds and that some of the pictures look better than the stone IRL based on the PS vendor/customer comparison pictures and reviews. As for if the setting is temporary or permanent will depend on how soon I am able to find the right hot pink side stones. I have not given up on it at all. :naughty:

Gorgeous Tsav Chrono! I love the pink baguette idea, it's a shame those are so hard to find! The LOGR setting isn't too shabby either. I'm so glad you chose yg, looks great with that gorgeous green!

VapidLapid,
Thanks for looking out for me. Unfortunately, I don’t think round sidestones will go well with a square center stone. It makes it look like the tsav has monkey ears or Princess Leia style ear muffs.

Princess Leia! She grew up to be Mrs Lovett from Sweeny Todd!

It's a beautiful setting Chrono, and I love the tsavorite in there. How exciting to finally give her a home!!

VL,
Oh la la! What are the dimensions of those rubys? Did the vendor mention anything about treatment?

Roger Dery, I have no more info. His site doesn't pile on the information; you just have to email him for details. At approximately .82 ct each they're a fine size for side stones

Thanks, VL. I checked out the link and found the dimensions of the stones. They measure 6.0 x 4.5 mm which are a tad too large for my 7 mm center stone. To get the proportions correct, the maximum height must be 5 mm and under. I really appreciate your keen eyes. Thanks again!

Beautiful combo and it looks wonderful on your hand! Cheers to your newly home-d tsav!

LOL! Ok, now I will never be able to watch or listen to either one without thinking of this. Thanks.

I am glad that the setting worked out to your liking. I think it looks perfect with the tsavorite. I personally don't like mixing colored stones together so I think this setting was meant to be. :lickout:
