Hello all

I was proposed to on Saturday by my lovely chap (I accepted!) and we are now looking at getting a ring made. I always expected this to be an exciting venture, but after a few visits to jewellers, I am now rather daunted by the wide range of options. The romance is rapidly leeching out of the venture!

I actually have a very clear idea of the type of ring I would like (platinum square band with a square bezel and c. 0.5ct white carre cut diamond). I would like to spend no more than ~ GBP3.5k and don''t know whether that is completely unrealistic. I also have no idea what I should be aiming for in terms of colour, clarity, etc. I would just like a "good" and "pretty" diamond!

I am based in London and wondered whether any one had any suggestions for a safe pair of hands who might be able to guide us through the commissioning process, produce a lovely ring and not rip us off (to put it bluntly(!)).

Apologies for being such a novice!

I forgot to say that ideally, I would also like a cert. stone and to avoid confict stones.

Thanks!

can I make it Reaallly easy for you? Go here www.goodoldgold.com..
have a look around, see what kind of cut and style of ring you fancy.
Then email [email protected] asking for Jon, and let him help you. Awesome diamonds, A+ service, nice nice people.
Many people from abroad have purchased from them and other Pricescope recommended vendors and been extremely happy - including myself, buying from Australia.

You have gotten off on the right foot asking for help here!

oh, and this can be really fun trust me!!

Honestly, your ring sounds a lot like what I just had made. If you buy from the US you should be able to hit your price goal with no problem. BUT your setting likely will have to be custom made, as mine was (look in my avatar). Mark at Engagement Rings Direct in New York did my ring and he is also fantastic.

ETA: You might also want to look at Asscher cut diamonds. Similar to Carre Cut, but with more "oomph" if you will.

agreed - neat''s ring is one my faves. Classy yet different.
Not sure what a carre diamond is - is this a branded cut?
Neatfreak''s ring would look awesome with an asscher ot perhaps you will also be interested in a "square hearts and arrows" or a "princess of hearts cut", both sold at the aforementioned GOG. and both present a different yet great choice if you''re not into rounds etc..here is a thread with some pics of my 0.7 PoH right hand ring.. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-poh-rhr-more-pics.83238/
