Hi Niel,

I saw an older post where you were planning the setting for your marquise gold solitaire ring with the brushed matte gold shank. Just wondering if the claw prongs in real life were awesome? I really like the look of the triple claw prongs you sent to DK as inspiration for your ring instead using the v-prongs on the marquise tips as you see on so many solitaire rings with marquise centres.

In real life do the claw prongs catch on anything? Can you see the definition of the triple claw prongs without looking at the ring really closely?

I am just sending all these questions your way as I have a nice marquise diamond on hold with My Diamondzone and am considering what to do with a setting. It is 9mm X 5mm and I feel self-conscious about wearing larger jewellery pieces so a halo is not really an option for me. Do you mind if I use your solitaire setting with triple claw prongs as an inspiration ring? (There is a setting that has been designed by My DiamondZone with diamond melee on the basket and on the shank, but I want the prongs to look like your ring.)

Hi!

I did like the way the prongs were done (I've sense sold it but that wasn't becuase of the prongs)

I did not notice the tips get snagged on anything, though I have had "claw prongs" that snagged in the past. I think that was an issue with production, not the claw prongs itself

I attached some pictures where close up you can see and on the hand they were still noticeable. The number one reason I wanted them was because I wanted all the prongs to seem more uniform than one regular prong set and one v prong set.

I don't mind at all id you use it as inspiration ::)

How exciting! The only thing I'd causion is to ask dz to show you examples of their prongs so you know what you're getting into.

Niel - do you mind me being a snoop and asking why you sold it? I can honestly say that this ring has to be one of my favourite solitaires on Pricescope! You get the elegance of yellow gold and timeless solitaire design but the marquise diamond is so unique and is not something that lots of people will have.

I never thought of getting a marquise until i saw the one for sale on the Mydiamondzone store. Not only is it a great price (Ilya says if it was the same specs but any other shape it would be a lot more expensive) but it looks to my eye a lot bigger than its ct weight of 0.83ct. Good suggestion, i will ask to see some other examples of their claw prongs before I get them to do mine like that. I know David does really nice claw prongs (my 5 stone diamond band is from David).

Really excited to get a stock setting with a few custom changes like claw prongs for this new marquise. I am kind of over going custom, its gets too stressful sometimes and I keep on changing my mind 50 times per day and stressing over the tiny little details......

I really wanted to love the color, I just didn't :(

If it was a few shades up, I'd have never taken it off. In most lights it was white enough, but in the lighting I wore it most (at work) I didn't love it. And I've taken to selling anything I don't love, so I'm not wasting too too much money on jewels lol
