Hi Everybody,

I''ve got the same story as all the first-time posters...been hanging out behind the scenes for a while now and finally decided to ask for your assistance. All of the info here on PS is so helpful but now it''s time to see what the experts think of my research. Here goes nothing!

Cut: I think cut is the most important so an ideal cut is a must!

Clarity: I''ve been looking from VS2-SI1. It''s got to be clean looking.

Color: G-I should be fine with an ideal cut

Carat: 1.0 - 1.25

And of course a really good Idealscope image is important on top of this.

Here''s one example of what I''ve found so far that meets these criteria: http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-51213.htm#

Report: AGS
. Shape: A Cut Above H&A
. Carat: 1.210
. Depth %: 60.8
. Table %: 55.5
. Crown Angle: 34.8
. Crown %: 15.5
. Pavilion Angle: 40.8
. Pavilion %: 43.1
. Girdle: Thin to Medium
. Measurements: 6.92-6.93X4.21
. Polish: Ideal
. Symmetry: Ideal
. Culet: Pointed
. Fluorescence: Negligible

It also scores a 1.3 on the HCA with "excellent" scores for B, F, and Sc.
Let me know what you think of this stone and if there are others out there that fit into my criteria that might be better or save me a couple of bucks. By the way, I''m trying to stay under $6500. The one above is $6322 with the PS discount.

Thanks in advance for your comments, criticism, and suggestions. Sorry for such a long first post but it feels good to out on the forum now. I can''t wait to hear what y''all think!

That one''s lovely, and you''ve shopped well. You might decide to constrain colors by one more grade, in which case you could also consider one like this...but either way, you''d be doing great.

iceterp, looks good to me.

Thanks for for your comments Regular Guy and Ellen. They are much appreciated by this rookie rock guy!

RG - I took a look at the diamond you suggested and it has a few more "red marks" (I''m sure that''s not the correct terminology) on the AGS report vs. the one I posted. Maybe the number of them doesn''t matter but how they appear in person to somebody like the RocDoc. Is the combination of that with the slightly smaller carat size worth it for the upgrade in color? What do you think of the comparisons of their Idealscopes too, if you have the time? (Anybody else too of course)
