Hi all,
As a newbie, I have learnt so much over these last few weeks about diamonds.

Now that I have decided what I want, I need some help where to source it from.

I would like an oval shape, close to 1 carat, colour up to H, clarity up to S1 as long as it's eye clean. My budget is the problem, I only have $3000 to spend on the stone.

I really like this from blue Nile
http://www.bluenile.com/built_ring_details.jsp?built_ring_id=920EA7CAF2D146EFE04010ACA0201791

Sorry don't know how to upload pic yet.
Can anyone help me where I can find the diamond and get it made? I live in Australia so online vendors only?

There are quite a few trusted vendors here who list their inventory online and may even be able to get the diamond you like from bluenile. Especially with a fancy shape I'd want pics and a trusted vendor to let me know how the stone looks/performs etc. You don't get that with bluenile. I'd contact Yekutiel with idjewelryonline.com or David with diamondsbylauren.com. Good Old Gold and Brian Gavin are another two vendors with really good reviews. Good luck! :D

My favorite would be the last one (.92 D SI1). Love the shape on this one. Are you ok with the bow-tie that most ovals have?
Then .9 d Si1 and last .91 E Si1 for $2850.

Before you request ASETs on any of them ask and make sure that they are eye-clean. No real need to request an ASET if
they are not eye-clean.

Edit - just noticed that the girdle on the first one goes from VThin to VThick.
The second diamond I like has Med Blue fluor. Would need to make sure it doesnt go milky in sunlight (but probably not an issue).

The email from James Allen said they all appear to be eye cleaneith mo or minimal bow ties. I think I have to accept that if I wantan oval it will be likely to have a bow tie as long as it's not fully visible, I can live with that.

What kind of l/w ratio do you like?

Around 1.5 would be ideal. I don't want it too thin/long because I have small, skinny fingers.

An update... I've emailed a few suggested vendors a few days ago and have only had one response from James Allen. Their gemogist has checked the stones that were suggested and this is the response

Helen,

Thank you for your patience in receiving the graduate gemologist inspection of these three ovals.

1097462(0.90ct D SI1) This is an extremely white diamond.  It faces up a slightly rounder oval outline than the other two diamonds.  The bowtie spread is the least offensive of the three, bowtie is less spread and not as dark.  This diamond faces up the most brilliant.  There is a high relief crystal in the star/bezel facet that blends really well and will not be picked up with the unaided eye.  If you do not mind fluorescence and like a more traditional oval shape this is the best of the three diamonds.

1095648(0.91ct E SI1) The bowtie is very spread and very dark, least brilliant out of three stones also the outline of stone is not as symmetrical as other two stones

1279271(0.92ct D SI1) outline is more elongated and slender oval shape, outline is nicer then the 0.91ct.  The diamond faces up white and eye-clean.  The bowtie is spread across the entire face of the diamond and dark.

The clear winner out of these three diamonds is diamond #1097462.

What are your opinions? Should I wait for other responses from other places (its been 3 days)? Buy the recommended stone? Or keep searching?

I quite like the look of the .90 ct D, SI1 just from the photo- it's my favorite of the three. I prefer 'fatter' ovals, however.

If you like one or all three, you can ask for ASET images and while you're waiting, see if any of the other vendors respond. You can always give them a call in case your email was accidentally marked as spam.

I finally received a response back from Whiteflash after emailing them again. Unfortunately, they were not able to source any ovals for me that didn't have bowties.

I've decided to bite the bullet and purchase the 0.90 that Darin from JA recommended. Based on the reviews i've read and other Pricescope members thoughts, JA do not 'sugar coat' their feedback to get you to buy from them, so i feel more comfortable with them.

I've placed my order and chosen the White Gold Common Prong
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/Common-Prong-Engagement-Ring.html

I like the thin band look and think it will make the diamond appear bigger as well. And once i finally have the wedder on, it hopefully won't feel like i'm wearing 2 rings.

Thanks to everyone for their help. WIll post pics when i receive it.
