Hello,

I'm new to this site, but I can tell the users here have a lot of expertise. Right now I'm trying to look for a round brilliant diamond for an engagement ring (Tiffany-style six-prong setting).

Specifically, I am looking to spend about up to $12k for the stone. I've been searching at mainly brick and mortar stores in Toronto. Right now, I am strongly considering a 1.19ct, Triple-Excellent, F-colour, SI1 stone for a little under $10k for the stone. It has an HCA score of 3.6.

Here is a report for the stone. Right now I am little concerned about the "crystal" in the middle of the report map.

Any advice would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you seen the stone? the only thing you should be concern about is if stone is eye clean, if you have not seen the stone, ask for
the Ideal Scope Image from the Vendor, it will help you take correct decision.

Firstly, I would only consider stones with a HCA score of 2 and lower to maximize light return and sparkle.
Secondly, as long as the stone is eye clean from 6 inches away, that's good enough for me too. Have you seen this stone in person?

Thanks for the advice so far. I just went to take a look at the stone yesterday and it did look good, however I was able to spot the inclusion using a 10x loupe and I could sort of see it with my eye afterwards.

Anyway, while I was there the salesmen also showed me another much more promising stone. It scores an HCA of 0.9! He was surprised at how well it scored, because he hadn't checked it before I asked. It is a 1.33 ct, G, SI1, 3Ex as graded by GIA. Again, there is an inclusion that can be noticed through the 10x loupe, but even after knowing where the inclusion was, I could not find it with the naked eye. It looks great.

Here is the GIA report. Could someone take a look and let me know if I am missing anything? Thanks.

Do you search on google for Toronto and Pricescope - you'll find some recommendations on appraisers. You'll want an appraiser to look at the light performance within the return period.
