Hello everyone! I''m new here and would just like an opinion on an egagement ring my boyfriend is looking at. I don''t have all the details/specs but I will try and hopefully I can get some feedback.

.75 CT Sl1 F Rectangle solitaire
6.0mmx4.4mmx2.9mm
L/W ratio: 1.36
depth percentage: 66%
table percentage: 58%
table surface: 26.4mm
ring band top to bottom 1.84mm-2.84mm
ring size 6

i love the look of a rectangle radiant ring. Classy and simple with a bit of a modern edge. Will this look to small or to big on my hand? Will it look like a carat? I would like it to look like a respectable size. The thin band may help the stone appear larger. Comments please.

Thank You for your help:)

Hi RP

Which lab graded this diamond, GIA?

It is hard to say how large the diamond will look compared to ---> ....for example, radiants especially can vary for face up size depending on the cut and proportions, but this size should look lovely on you. A thin band can definitely make the stone pop so that is a good move.

Can't tell much by numbers, images such as ASET and photos are needed to judge the cut of radiants but if you have seen this one and love it, thats a big step in the right direction. I would say to compare as many radiants as you can to make sure this one is the type you prefer. F colour will be great and very white IF reliably graded by GIA, SI clarity check carefully the diamond is eyeclean to your standards.

This thread has many of the PS radiants in, enjoy!!

Unfortunately, we haven't seen the stone. We will be purchasing online because it suits our budget best. The seller sent pictures to my BF and says the ring is certified by EGL. Is EGL recognized?
Ok, EGL is considered to grade more leniently than GIA or AGS in some cases, also the overseas EGL labs are said to be less strict still than EGL USA, so very important to know which EGL lab graded the stone such as EGL Israel, Antwerp etc.
This page explains more - http://diamonds.pricescope.com/grading.asp

Which vendor has the diamond? Is it being sold in an online auction? I ask this as it is preset in a ring....

yes..it is an online auction. i think it is EGL usa. I will have to ask my BF

I would be very cautious as the ring is being sold at an online auction, is it with Ebay? There are lots of known online vendors you can buy with and not have any concerns, have you checked out any of the trusted vendors here to see what you could get for the budget?

I am by far an expert myself...so take it for what it is worth...but I wonder if it is eye clean. I am wondering about the spot I see at 4 o''clock and it looks like a feather at 12 o''clock.

Its quite possibly NOT eyeclean Renae, yes, RP I would be very cautious here before pulling the trigger on this diamond, how much are they asking for the ring also?

I think ebay is fine for smaller jewelry purchases, but for something as expensive and important as an engagement ring, it''s really risky. At the least you need to see a close face-up photo to evaluate the facet pattern (in addition to the grading report). Reflector images such as ASET and IS are also very helpful. Since you''re open to buying online, check out some of these trusted vendors:

http://www.jamesallen.com
http://www.highperformancediamonds.com
http://www.niceice.com
http://www.exceldiamonds.com
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com

At least the first 3 can definitely source a radiant for you, and probably the others too.

Here''s one that might be pretty (not sure of your budget). Clarity is higher than you need to go, but I don''t see much else from James Allen so far:

Thank you all so very much for your replies. This is definetly a step in the right direction for us. Of course we want to buy from a well trusted vendor! My BF and I will look through all the links! I still would like to know how a radiant solitare (rectangle) will look on a size 6 finger. I may start a new thread for that.
