So New Years is right around the corner. Anyone have special plans? Who''s staying home?

We''re staying home and having two friends come over and spending the night. I never like to go out because I''m afraid of drunk drivers and also because we have kids and I like them to be included in our celebrations (i.e. we don''t go out to grown up parties).

We have a bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge and the kids (if they manage to stay up till 12) will get something like 7-up, which is a huge treat for them.

We're staying home! My FI got me the complete Friends DVD set and we're finally doing the Friends marathon that we've been dying to have for years! And it'll be nice to have some down time, just the two of us, it's been non-stop crazy since we got engaged a couple weeks ago. It's my idea of a perfect NYE

We''re staying home, my husband will make a nice dinner. He just informed me there is a 2% chance I''ll actually make it to midnight. ha ha ha

We never do anything. It is too scary to go out with the drunk drivers. I myself don''t like going out and drinkning and then wondering how I will get home. I will probably not even stay up until 12.

We just decided today that we''re going to throw a small party at home. I''m going to call it a pajama party, and make tons of comfort food.

We''ll be in Charleston, SC. We''ve never been there and since my husband has this week off, we decided that we''d drive down there and check out the area. We don''t have any actual plans for NYE yet, but I''m sure we''ll find something to do.

I''m having a party at my house. It''s my first party in the new place and I''m excited! I usually never have fun on NYE''s so hopefully a party at my place will be fun!

Our neighbors want to do something but I love staying home on NYE. We do have a party to go to on NY day (bring your ugly xmas gift party) and another party on the 2nd so it will be nice if we stay in. Also, the Syfy channel has the Twilight Zone marathon

going on and I love to watch those (I know I am a nerd). hehe

We''re staying home, and my sister is coming over. We''ll do our traditional NYE dinner of snazzy hors d''oeuvre and get some sparkling cider to toast the new year with the kids.

Seeing a band at a local club, cabbing it to and from about a mile each way. SO gave me a very sexy LBD for Christmas that I''m going to wear, I''m excited! It will be a fun night knowing that we''ve taken the necessary precautions to avoid drinking and driving and staying local so as to not have to travel far at all. I love NYE and am looking forward to ringing in 2010! New Year''s night SO is taking me on what will be my first skiing experience, I am not so excited about that having never skiied but will do my best to get into it!

I have no plans!

We have a 10 month old and all the people we know locally have kids too.

What do parents do when their kids are young???

We were invited to a NYE party/playdate at 6 so that will be fun and T will get to play with her friends. We will probably come home around 8 or 9 and just hang out at home the rest of the night. I have never been a huge NYE person and the drunk drivers do scare me. I am really, really looking forward to 2010 though!

I think we will be staying in this year. We may have a couple of people over. We typically make cocktails and break out the wii. I''m afraid of drunk drivers too.

We usually stay home and have our friends over. That way we don''t have to worry about being out on the road with drunks, or dealing with super crowded bars.

BF works in the CBD in a tall office building. The Top floor is accessable by staff only and has been converted into a garden area with seating for people to eat lunch etc, and happens to have a pretty awsome veiw of the city. For New Years eve we plan to be up there at midnight to watch the fireworks, then maybe go out for a drink, dancing, food or the casino, depends what we feel like. Most of our friends are away for New Years eve.

My b-day is new year''s day..every year before I''ve spent new year''s eve with my parents, but this year I think I am going to stay home with DH and invite some friends over for a small get together. Not a party..but just some chilling and fun. Then new year''s day we''re going to go out to eat as a family. My parents will have their first new year''s eve alone together as adults in 22 years..I think they''ve earned it, lol.

I''m in the "scared of drunk drivers" camp. I always stay at home with a nice fire and a drink. I like to hear the neighbors make their pots and pan noises at midnight.

Hahahaha, Ugly Present Party....that''s awesome. What a great NY party idea!!

I just discovered my new favorite drink, so I will be having it on NYE. Champagne with pomogranate seeds. They float around like a lava lamp. So pretty. Works well with OJ too.

Well I thought we were just heading out for dinner in the city like we usually do (we''re about an hour southwest of Melbourne in Oz), but DH came home the other night and told me he''d surprise booked a dinner cruise on Melbourne''s Yarra River, and a hotel room for the night, yay!

So I guess that''s what we''re doing.
