Anyone seen one of these?

I have seen the Tycoon Cut.

What do you wish to know about them?

Anyone seen one of these?
I''ve seen several, but not outdoors, just in jewelry store light. I did check them out with loupe etc and they were interesting and not altogether unattractive in a ring, but they didn''t exactly look like diamonds because the cut was so unexpected, and I''ve no idea how well they perform in sunlight. They were okay. Not for most, but a few would love them I''m sure. I think they would translate well into a man''s ring.

I was doing my usual reading around on the net and saw a reference to it being one of the newest cuts. I haven''t seen it mentioned here, so I thought I would venture a question and see if anyone has one.

Not to steal your post richipat, but I have never heard of them! Can someone post pictures too? While of course answering richipat''s question

There are tons of threads on "tycoon" tracked back to 5 years ago on PS, this even has pictures of a square one

i have seen them in a jewelry store. the ones i saw were very nice. i can not remember all about them but when i looked at them while browsing in the store i liked them. they have been out for several years now, you should be able to google them and see pics but i think they have been discussed here before. if memory serves me correctly.

I have never seen a square one..., and I dont think the patent of the Tycoon Cut includes pavilion corners..., or cornere brakes...

Interesting stone though..., more than their usual long stones out there...

It looked differnt than the ones I saw as well... the ones I saw were very classic rectangular tycoon.... but I did find this which is square and less "asscherish"

they sell them at shane co amongst others.

Mara and I saw them at Joe Escrobar and were SEVERELY underwelmed. They didn''t have any square ones but the rectangular ones we saw were dead and dark. We saw an ENTIRE display... with broad sizes and colors and there was not ONE of those I would have bought. We saw E''s that looked yellower than step cut J''s I''ve seen elsewhere... would NOT recommend.

yep
not impressed.
emerald cut is much better looking if well cut.

the square tycoon is beautiful!!!

I thought they sold criss-cut stones (by Christopher designs or something?), is that not the same thing? I am confused

.

Either way I think I would pick a nicely cut princess over those. But cool to see a different type of cut.

Well, I am glad I DID NOT take advice of many of you on this forum. Did a lot of homework on the Tycoon cut, and my wife saw the diamond at the Jeweler. The diamond is SPECTACULAR and unlike the person who said it "is a light sieve" and "dull", the stone is brilliant in all light and has a fire unlike many others. My wife's mother has an emerald cut- a favorite of my wife's, but just does not have the fire we want (yes, true for an emerald cut). For those of you who are considering the Tycoon cut do not let the negative comments dissuade you! This diamond is a winner!

I remember seeing the tycoon cut diamonds at a local jeweler about 5 years ago and I thought they looked amazing and unique. Haven''t really seen them since.

Best I can do is the photo above-my wife is too photo shy for pics!! But, this is the same ring and stones!

We don''t need a picture of her whole self...just her hand!

Interesting cut. Please post more pictures!

The ring looks beautiful.

I was debating between the Tycoon, Criss Cut and the Ashoka, I''ve seen all three and they each have their unique qualities. I do like the Tycoon cut.

Dimaondminer

So glad you did not listen to opinions. I have since tracked one down at Brown & Co. here in Atlanta and I have to say it is a beautiful stone. I also have an emerald cut and this typoon does sparkle more and set in the right setting...well...breathtaking.

good job.

Thanks! I found the diamond and ring design while looking all over on the internet. Jeweler i worked with was awesome-he custom casted the ring and picked all the stones to match clarity and quality.

I love to see some of the more exotic cuts. Not for me personally because I''m pretty much a round brilliant girl, but I love the look of them very much.

I''ve never seen any in person but I remember seeing ads in bridal magazines. If I''m not mistaken it says that it''s the only diamond with a diamond on top of it. Hmmm...

I never really understood that.
