OK, so I have this beautiful asscher ring. But I don't like the setting on it too much. I like the setting, just not for the diamond. I think I'd still use the setting for something else, a colored stone perhaps. But for the diamond it's not working well. The pretty much closed basket is makes it really hard to get under the stone and clean it and thus unless it gets a good steam cleaning the diamond looks cloudy. Also, I don't like the big blocky prongs on it. So, I was thinking maybe I could save some money and reset it for my birthday present to myself. My birthday is in July so I have some time. The things I do like are that it has diamonds on the sides and the antiquey look makes it a nice RHR. So here's what I'm looking for mostly. A nice white gold setting with diamonds (if possible with my budget). The budget is lets say $650 (maybe I can get DH to contribute the money he would have spent on a gift to the setting fund). I'm open to anything really, even solitaires without diamonds. I really have no direction except that I've wanted to reset this one for awhile. Here is some info on the diamond itself:

0.80
I
VS1
EGL cert

Square Emerald cut AKA Generic Asscher
It was purchased from a vendor formerly known as Dirt Cheap Diamonds

You have a beautiful stone!!!! I agree that the prongs are too heavy almost clunky looking. I''d do something simple highlighting the beauty of your asscher with delicate prongs. I''m sure other''s will have great ideas for you, with your budget in mind.

nice asscher!
the prongs are over powering it.
Im picturing claw prongs with small side traps.

Do they sell just the setting? Is there a price somewhere?

I like the one storm suggested, here are a few others:

This is made for a princess, but maybe it could be remade for an asscher.

here''s a plain solitaire I like quite a bit, maybe it could be made for an asscher:

Loved the asscher elegance, I emailed them for a price but it''s way out of my budget.

This one is pretty if they could make it for an asscher. Good price too!

Love this one too if they can make it. It''s so pretty and delicate!

This is nice, but too similar to my emerald cut ring setting

This is gorgeous too, I''ll have to ask about this one!

Thanks for the suggestions. I''m going to email them and see if they can make any in asscher

OK I think this is it! They said it would work. Now I just need to save those dollars...

I love that setting! It also has a matching wedding band that can sit flush as well, which is always nice. Brian is great to work with and his work is excellent, so you should be very happy!
Well this is actually one of my RHR''s so no need for a wedding band. My engagement ring is a 1.34 round from GOG. :D

The new setting looks more dainty - I definitely agree the old prongs are way too clunky for the asscher.
