#JOTW New OEC/transitional in custom floral halo yellow gold setting

I purchased this stone in a dated pinky ring setting from an eBay auction a couple of years ago and finally it has a new floral setting. The setting was inspired by one that I had seen somewhere and saved in my photos but modified with an under-bezel and marquise diamonds on top and bottom as well as single cuts.

The diamond is 1.01ct and VS, L/M/N approximately. I thought about using 18k gold but ended up going with 14k and I think it works well to highlight the color of the diamond. It also looks so much larger in the bezel. I have never had a solitaire because I didn’t want one when I got engaged. This will be a right hand ring and I think the size is perfect for me.

I fell in love with warm OEC’s thanks to PS and ended up getting super lucky finding this on eBay.

So pretty! The cut on that diamond looks so good. And I love the ring b*tt.

Thank you. The cut is probably transitional and it has a big table and is a bit shallow/spready but that doesn’t seem to impact the performance. It’s very sparkly and fiery. It doesn’t have the perfect flower pattern in the middle but I absolutely love the chunky facets and the pale, lemony yellow color.

Ha! You asked for more photos. I can’t stop taking photos of the ring. Most of these are outdoors in the sun or shade. I love how the chunky facets pick up all the colors. I have always admired the amazing OEC’s on PS so I’m thrilled to finally have an older cut to play with.

I’m pretty happy with the cut but it’s not graded and I don’t have any specs on angles, etc. I also don’t have anything to compare it to really since it was an eBay purchase but it sparkles constantly in all lighting so I assume it must be cut well. I’m curious to hear what you are seeing in the photos that makes you say the cut is good?
