I received this stone in the mail today and I am super excited to start my new project!! It''s very sparkly in person and as soon as I get home from work I will take pictures and post them, I promise!

One thing I am hoping you ladies can help me with is what to set this lil cutie in... Before I saw it I was thinking about a rose gold setting... or maybe two tone (with a rose gold head and white gold shank)... I am not sure a halo would be good... but then halos make the color darker right?

It''s such a delicate looking stone and as such I think it requires the same kind of setting...

I don''t want to spend too much as this wasnt an expensive stone. I know you ladies are GREAT at giving some help/finding stuff, so I am hoping someone will have some inspiration

I''m really confused as how to set this one...

Here is Dan''s picture...

I can''t wait to see the IRL pics of it! I love Dan''s stones!

Forgot to add his description of stone ... it may help !

"STONE: Tourmaline
WEIGHT: 1.17 Cts.
CUT: Modified Round Brilliant
DIMENSIONS: 6.44 mm
ORIGIN: Nigeria
COLOR: Light Peach
CLARITY: Very Good+ (Eye Clean)

COMMENTS: A nicely brilliant, bright tourmailne that is a bit more peachy colored in person. The photo came out a bit too pink, when in reality it''s more of a pinkish golden color."

Hope you don''t mind one guy butting in

Well, I wouldn''t go with prongs for this one as the color seems very delicate, and if it''s really "golden-peachy" as you say, than you can even go with yellow gold to emphasize yellow tones and make it (maybe) more orange. We have a similar discussion a few threads down about how to set a peachy diamond and most agree that a white shank (for contrast) with a rose head would be great. However, unlike that stone, which would probably benefit from prongs, I''d suggest something else for your stone. Either a bezel or some kind of a flush setting if you decide on one color of the metal (either yellow or rose).

What a pretty color! Can''t wait to see more pictures of it!

Thank you LTP and packrat :)

Ma re - Of course you can butt in lol! I should edit that post to include guys :p

I am not a huge of yellow gold (only have 1 yg ring), but mainly I don''t think I want to make it more orange... Would two tone in rose gold look nice?

on a seprate note, I need to head home now lol, so will look up two tone bezel settings and take pictures of the stone when I get home!

Does anyone have any idea if jewelers in the UK carry Stuller ? They have some nice settings!

Yes, unless you make the prongs/bezel white - that could make the stone really pale or (even worse) greyish in case of a bezel. In short, keep it close to warm tones (rose/yellow) and have the colder ones (white) further away.

Rose gold bezel all the way on that one. Pretty stone, congratulations!!

Very pretty stone - definitely agree w/ the suggestion to set it in rose gold

Delicate pink! Rose gold all the way--either bezel or delicate prongs. Pinky ring?

What a beautiful pink stone!! I''m not a bezel person so much so I think delicate little rose claw prongs would look amazing.

So sweet and pretty!

If it were me, I would comb ebay for an antique Victorian rose gold setting that''s lost its stone. That could be inexpensive and appropriate.

Ooooooh! I likee! Add my vote to the rose gold fan club!

Ok I''m shocked! Ma re - you''re a guy!!!! Well, I''d never have guessed!!!

Just goes to show that the mental picture you have of somebody can be completely wrong! Unless of course you''re tall, slim with long dark hair - in which case I got it right!

Deia - I think you need to wait and see the actual colour of the stone because from the description it sounds like it would work with yellow and white gold and perhaps even rose (depending on the tone). Do you have any thoughts on settings? Do you want prongs, a bezel, bypass, tension setting????? Give us a clue as to what you''re thinking and it might be easier to suggest some settings.

Ooopsie! Computer trouble, double post.

I have that one . . . I had some pics somewhere, but I had mine altered to fit a 5.25 mm stone. I have a stone on hold

to fill that setting, and the setting is currently not in my posession.

Let me see if I can dig up pics from when I received it.

OK, well, I tried uploading the pics, but kept experiencing errors. Hmmmm.

hahaha! Good to know ma re!

I have to agree with Ma re. The saturation is light and the pink colour isn''t bright. Having it in prongs or a cold metal will make the stone look washed out. This stone needs colour and a bezel to deepen the colour and give it a boost. My recommendation is a pink gold bezel.

Very pretty. I''d go rose gold bezel setting.

Well, I thought repeating this in a few threads or having what looks like a men''s ring in an avatar would be enough, but I guess I was wrong

So I wanted to change my screen name today, but that can''t be done so I added a signature which might give a hint

BTW, the only member of my familiy who fits your description is my sister - sorry

Apologies for not replying sooner - I had unexpected guests last night and they didn''t leave until late... I was so tired I just went to bed, i''m sorry! And work as been really hectic today

I think rose gold head with white gold shank is the winner it seems

I''ve decided to go with a bezel setting for this stone. However which bezel setting I have no idea yet! I was thinking of the first LOGR that was posted since it is an actual bezel and the split shank one has prongs... but I was also thinking I could get a simple bezel setting without diamonds and make this a stacking ring... I am so indecisive

Ok so far here are the ones I like...

Any other ideas would be more than welcome :)

LD, I have ordered the first setting before for a ring I made for my mother - it is a cute delicate setting, definately an option :)

I have that last setting, and he can''t do it in two tone (rose gold head and white gold shank), but he can do it in all rose gold. I think it would be a lovely alternative, and make your stone pop.
