Hi guys!!
I just happened to stumble upon this website, and haven''t been able to stop reading it since!! I''ve learned sooo much, but still have so many questions. My story is this. I''ve been wanting to get a new diamond for years now. I''d been casually shopping around, and stopped in
at a local diamond broker in my city. I purchased from him a RB 2.43, SI 1, F color. I could see a few tiny inclusions, but I loved the stone. The cert was from EGL (their European branch).
Then, the next week, I ran into a family friend of ours. He''s also a jeweler. He said he thought the diamond should have been rated a I1, and I paid too much. So I returned the diamond to the first broker. The family friend then sold me a 2.10, I color, SI1, very eye clean. But somehow it just didn''t sparkle like my first diamond. So I returned that one to the family friend.
Now, I''m back to square one, and actually I''m glad because I had no idea there was so much to know. I''m looking forward to gathering as much info as I can, and be able to finally make an educated decision.
What I do know for sure is that I want a RB stone, around 2.5 carats, D-F in color, and probably VS1-VS2. I know I want it as bright and sparkly as possible. I get confused though about fire, scintillation, etc. I did look at a Hearts on Fire stone, and to me it looked a little dark. Very colorful in it''s sparkles, but yet dark, like graphite or something. Is that because of it''s fire? Also, how does the crown, table, angles, etc. play into the brightness of a stone? If the table is big, like around 58%, would that make a diamond brighter and whiter? And, can a diamond be bright and white, but also have the colorful sparkles?
I did see a diamond in Ble Nile''s signature collection that I was interested in. It''s a 2.43, D color, VS1. It''s GCAL report that shows the light leakage looks really good (almost zero leakage).
I''m to the point where I''m not as concerned about price, I just want a REALLY REALLY bright sparkly diamond. What do I do??? Help!!!
