This is easy - return it.

Let me get you started with one (of many) hypothetical options:
1.011ct, K, VS2 ~$5,500 (with Pricescope discount) - probably better actual color than the IGI 'I color'
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.011-k-vs2-round-diamond-ags-bl-104071920016

14k 4-prong setting ~$325
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/four-prong-solitaire-14k-white-gold-5342w14

No setting fee, no 'piece of mind' fee, no sales tax (unless you live in TX).

You are out the door at around $1k less, with a superior stone (better diameter size, clarity and, probably, color) with a top-of-the-line cut.

There are other options available, but that is just one example to show you, without a doubt - RETURN BEFORE YOU PICK UP!

also, how do i get pricescope discount?

Get a refund !, not a well cut stone, plus the IGI report is worthless.

Just ask for it, when you contact BGD. They will know what you're talking about!

Hi Evoiris and welcome!

I also agree that halting this transaction will be the best thing to do for the following reasons.

IGI lab report - IGI provide grading reports for many stones sold in commercial jewellery stores, however, they are thought to be less strict for grading in some cases than the top 2 labs, GIA and AGS. I personally think it's best to stick to diamonds graded by these 2 labs. It is possible your I colour I1 could grade lower if sent to GIA or AGS, so it could actually be a J or K colour and I1 or even I2 clarity.

Cut quality - does not look promising with the proportions, this is potentially what we call a steep/deep angled combo, this can lead to light leakage and less beauty. Get the best cut stone you can, you won't be sorry.

Clarity - There are some very clean I1 out there but you really need an expert to help you find these that are well cut, I would stick to verified eye clean SI2 clarity or higher for an engagement ring personally.

Girdle - medium to thick isn't ideal, best to look for thin to slightly thick, thin to medium, slightly thin and so on.

There is no longer a Pricescope discount, any discounts offered by vendors are obtained via bank wire payment, please see this thread.

Another one for returning it...stick to GIA or AGS grading reports. You have a nice budget...
The experts here can find you a well cut stone with a respected grading report that you'll love.

Edit - Here is a beautiful AGS000 stone (Light return, polish and symmetry have all been graded Ideal).
Price: $5770 plus 4 prong setting $180 = $5950

Or, if you are comfortable with some inclusions, you could go up in color and down to SI1/S!2 clarity or even a good I1 for the same money. And possibly go up in size. Personally, I'd rather have higher color in the D-H range, but will trade off in clarity. Discrete but visible inclusions are fine with me. I don't need totally eyeclean. I'm not a great fan of J and K range, but L and M are attractive to me. Feel free to set your own rules depending on what's important to you.
