Hello! I just recently stumbled onto this site, and I am in love.

I bought this blue diamond from a lady on Craigslist. Can anyone tell me more about it? I am sure that it has been heat treated, irradated, and all sorts of other bad things, but I really liked the setting, and the price was right. Approximately .50 a karat.

Hopefully I don't screw up this upload....

Welcome to pricescope!

I'm not an expert on styles, so I can't really comment on the ring other than it looks very pretty. The diamond as you already stated is most definitely irradiated. It is a common color in irradiated blue diamonds. Very pretty.

Congratulations.
It's a very pretty diamond and ring.
Treating a diamond for color is not inherently a bad thing as long as the treatment was disclosed an you paid a fair price because half carat round diamond that GIA grades to be of natural material and color origin with that hue and saturation would cost north of $100,000.

For instance, here's a natural 0.29 ct for $46,400.

And although your greenish blue is often seen in treated diamonds I've seen a few fully natural ones of similar color and they are astronomically expensive.

Do you know anything about how much treated stones like this would be worth? I paid $300ish for this ring. If it were really worth that much I would be a very happy girl.... Won't hold my breath though .

I am not up to date with pricing on irradiated blue diamonds but seems like you paid a fair price, considering the setting (gold and diamonds). I think irradiated blue are very inexpensive.

Its a beautiful ring, congratulations :appl: !!
