hello everyone,

a couple weeks ago i asked for help w/ selecting asscher diamonds. i''m getting a custom replica of the daniel k halo pave setting...

anyhow, i sent the jeweler back to look for more asschers w/ smaller tables (per your urgings =D) and here''s what she gave me...

1.13 carat
F color
vs2
Exc cut polish etc
60 table
69.5 depth...
GIA cert
$8500

i found cheaper prices for similar specs online - almost $1000 cheaper, but they are letting me swap my old diamond from another jeweler so i''m not considering too heavily trying to bargain down the price - do you disagree?

there is another asscher almost same specs as this one above, but 1.10 carat, vs1 but it''s $9500 so i''m not considering it. thoughts???

Could be great! Any chance for pictures?

The only "iffy" thing I notice is that it is a little deep - which can mean that the spread (or visual size) isn''t AS big as a similar stone that is more shallow would look.

Do you have the stone''s dimensions? You could compare dimensions of like weighted stones with different depth & see what you think.

It might be why the other stone is more expensive (it might look "bigger") ... can you get the specs on that one just for reference?

they both have 60 table, the second has 68 depth...not much diff...

Ooops double post ... but I did find this for $8700 ... 1.3ish "G" vvs2 ...

i''d love to buy online, but i''m stuck because we''re upgrading and my hubby got the original ring at a jeweler in SF (we live in LA now)...it''s a long story but i don''t want to lose the $2900 credit for the original stone!!!

Do you have the dimensions? Width x length x depth. Millimeters? And you really need to see pictures or in person. Asschers have a variety of looks. Thin or thick windmills which affects the shape. Can you get a verbal discription of the shape, corners, windmills? And don''t forget the girdle. Asschers often are cut with very thick girdles.

Worth going to see in person.
Pictures would help us help you but read the asschers threads in the FAQ and you should be well armed to judge it yourself.

ok, got the full specs, can''t post the certificate because i don''t have a program to shrink the file...

1.13 F vs2
5.85 x5.75 x3.93
68.2 depth
60 table
slightly thick to thick girdle

exc polish/symmetry

not much more info than before.

the carat size does not add to it''s appearance it''s deeper then the other options, but overall i think it''s a good option...

sounds good so far...
seeing it will tell the story
