New acquisition, BIG Mama cocktail ring

Ummm, just sayin', I do NOT hate that.

While it’s beautiful, I could never.. lol mixing lab created stones with naturals ones would bother me. Everyone has their own taste and preference but that’s stance on that.
I do think a colored stone would look lovely though, this was just to see if a faceted stone would work. (The moissy is too big and it’s just sitting on top of the bezel) but a faceted one looks nice, now it’s deciding what and the cut.
I will have to ponder on this, if all else fails and I get frustrated and run out of patience, I will just have a turquoise mounted .
I have other things I need to save for and would like to splurge more on.
A faceted tourmaline would look beautiful in this, so I may look more into that route.

I do appreciate everyone’s input and taking the time to read and respond, it’s definitely given me a lot to think about. Haha the OPTIONS lol. :oops2:

I vote for the turquoise, since that was your first inclination. It will be gorgeous.

Thank you, I’m very inclined to go that route, I will have to see if there’s any local or online. I will report back as soon I get my hands on one.

That’s what I thought was done originally, I have I owned 2 pearls and both had a post where the pearl would be set with a bit of glue, not enough glue to make a basket of glue holding it on to the setting though. Lol

I do have a moonstone, it’s slightly too big at 10mm. But I’m sure it wouldn’t be a huge issue to have it recut to fit. I might see what our local lapidary artist have near by (they cab more inexpensive material)

I have always yearned for a turquoise ruby ring, even more so if it has diamonds.
I stumbled upon one long ago on Lang’s.
Im a sucker for cabochon gems and this pulled my hearts strings with first glance.
While it won’t compare to the original design of the inspo pic, I will settle for something of the sort.
Of course if something else grabs my attention to set in this I will consider it, I foresee it being something bright and cheery.

These are the inspiration pictures for the time being.IMG_6899.jpegIMG_6898.jpeg

Once I saw that you took out the pearl, the first thing I thought of was turquoise!! I wouldn't mess with the setting as it truly is a beautiful piece of art! Have you thought about making it into a pendant? That would be stunning!!

Turquoise! I vote turquoise!

Unfortunately I don’t wear a lot of pendants and if I do they are minimalist.
I do have a need for a statement ring in my collection, this one may be it! I’m currently looking for a nicely colored turquoise, I’m hoping it will look as good as I’m thinking it will. I’m glad I’m not the I only one that think turquoise will look amazing. =)2
