I am finalizing my diamond pick for my engagement ring but I don¡¦t know which one would be the best. I would appreciate if you can help me pick one. I have 3 diamonds to choose from. Everything is F, SI1, round brilliant cut. I know the information that I can provide here is not sufficient enough to determine the quality of the diamonds. However, this is all I know at this moment. If you can give me expert comments, I would really really appreciate itƒº

Table 56
Girdles Medium to slightly thick / faceted

My comment from the diagram on the certificate -
There are some crystals. Maybe some feather and needles. (not clear on the copy of certificate.)

I am hoping to buy a diamond this coming Monday.
Thank you for your help!!!

Hi Jasmine (what a pretty name!)-

From the info you provided, I would weed out #2, because at just a hair over a carat, it should be right around 6.5mm in diameter. My guess -and I'm not an expert!- is that it has a deeper pavilion angle and is hiding the weight in the bottom, where you can't see it. Having said that, information like crown and pavilion angles or an IdealScope image would be very helpful in getting a better sense of how these stones might perform, perhaps the vendor can provide these for you. Also, make sure that you cannot see the inclusions with your naked eye (have you seen these diamonds in person?). SI1 can be a great value, or, if you can see the inclusions and they bother you, it can be a great frustration. Depending on the type of setting you're interested in, some inclusions can be nicely camouflaged by a prong. Good luck with your search!

From the info you gave, I'd lean toward #1. Unless you learn something totally detrimental. Like the clouds are quite obvious, or the angles are totally off, or something. #2 would be my second choice. I agree with Quaer. I'd toss #3 totally, as well. Widely ranging girdle. Diameter is not consistent with other well cut 1 carats. You'd be paying the price bump for hidden carat weight.

Hi, quaeritur and pqcollectibles.

Thank you for the posting. I decided to go with your suggestions. I am going to pick the biggest one.
Thank you for your help.

Jasmine.

My vote would be for #1. But, only a visual will tell you if the diamond is eye clean enough for you. I would suggest to get magnified pics & ask the vendor to eyeball it for you.

Good luck.
