I am interested in this stone: http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-680215.htm#

I am looking for something around 1.5 carats, G color, SI1-2 clarity and ideal cut, if possible.

Is this a good deal???

Is there anything wrong with it? The arrows look kinda thin to me... does that make any difference?

Thanks!

Hi ss,

I''m not loving the crown/pavillion combo. I think you could do better.

But to answer your question, yes, thinner arrows do make a difference. The thinner the arrows, the more splintery/pin like the flashes of light. Arrows a bit more on the fatter side give off a bolder, broader flash. Neither one is bad, it''s all personal preference.

I looked around to see what else I could find, although I don''t know what your budget is.

Need to ask if it''s eyeclean.

And this one too.

There''s not many in house in that size and color category at the moment.

A couple H''s, if you''d be interested.

not my favorite combo either, the thin arrows help that combo a lot so the cutter knew what he was doing.
IS is a bit blah you can do much better, check out the links above.

Thanks for the opinions. What is it that is bad about the crown/pavilion combo? My budget for the diamond is about $9000 b/c I would like to get the ritani endless love setting. If I choose a cheaper setting, then I can go up in the price of the diamond. I checked out the links that you posted. The one from JA looks really good. We''re going to call about that one. The others are a bit above budget.

Thanks :)

There are many C/P angles that will work, it's a balancing act of sorts, to get the best light return/scintillation/contrast. Some work better than others. But 40.6 for a PA is where even the experts really don't like to go past, into shallower territory.

Now, this certainly isn't the worst diamond I've seen, far from it. But as I said, you can do better, especially since you mentioned wanting ideal, which this is not.

And you're welcome!

p.s. If that JA stone doesn't work out, you might want to pick a vendor you'd like to work with and have them start looking for something with your specs.

Hi again,
well, according to JA, the F SI2 is eye-clean. So, that may be the one I end up with. However, I am a little concerned with its depth. Isn''t 62.2 kinda on the deep side? Is that what would make a steep/deep combo? Would you consider this diamond to be steep/deep?

Also, not sure if you know, but I am wondering how this would work logistically... when you buy a diamond from one vendor, and buy the setting from a different vendor... any advice?

Thanks
