ive been shopping on the internet and around town and found 2 stones locally that im trying to decide between.

Both are princess cut, to be set in 18k yellow gold. solitare, cathedral setting.

1st stone:

.81 carats F color, VS2, israel EGL cert. this is a nice stone and i could only pick out 2 small inclusions under a microscope. very eye clean but im worried about the EGL certification. ive read and heard to stay away from EGL.... price is 3410.00

2nd stone:

.84 carats F color, SI2, AGS cert. this is also a nice stone and although its only 3 pts bigger it LOOKS bigger and seems to have more fire than the other...i saw no visible inclusions even under the microscope. the only problem is there is a small feather in the corner of the stone which u can see with the naked eye (but barely) which my jewler promises me i will not be able to see once the stone is set. she also says since the feather has not broken the surface there is nothing to worry about. price for this stone is just under 3400.00

i would appreciate anyones opinion on each of these stones.

thanks

You say #2 looks bigger and has more fire.

That would do it for me!

Sometimes you have to let your eyes be the judge. You are not buying a piece of paper. Sounds like #2 is the one??

I agree with kaleigh. In this case, the "quality of appearance" sounds more important than the "quality of the diamond". I know that sounds strange, but sometimes what''s on paper isn''t necessarily better than what we see.....

Thanks Josh!! Sometimes a diamond can look absolutely great on paper and be a real dog in person.

I''d go with #2...It seems like the setting will protect the corner and the stone sounds like it outshines the other one...

go with what your eyes like, you won''t be dissapointed.
