Re: Need to finalize setting for round, 1.5ct solitaire ring

Check this thread out. There are a few shots of other Tiffanyesqe settings as well as the U113 ppuff ordered.

Edit ...if it were me, I would get one of the WF Tiffany settings (around $850) and use the money I saved to get the H colored
stone. I just dont see a big enough difference to pay for the U113. (But, that is me).

You're going to be hard-pressed to find the exact specs for the Tiffany original 6-prong. From what I've read online, the size of the Tiffany 6-prong varies based on the size of the diamond in the setting to maintain a certain proportion.
As for the diamonds, they are both excellent choices. Whether or not you want to upgrade to an H is up to you, but if it's within your budget, I would say go for it!

Here's another link for a poster who just got a Whiteflash ACA in a Vatche U113:

This setting tapers from 3.10-2.10mm.

Just something to think about... Thin settings seem to be really *in* right now, as many people feel they make the diamond look bigger. I know Whiteflash offers some other similar 6-prong styles that are thinner, like this one: http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/elegant-tiffany-style-solitaire-engagement-ring-3581.htm

Thank you! She has a 4.5 size finger. Do you think the Vatche U-113 will look a little too thick? I prefer a slightly thinner band but want all the stylistic details of the Tiffany/Vatche! Let me know what you guys think I should get. Getting ready to pull the trigger.

For reference:
I wear a 4.25-4.5. This is the Whiteflash wedding band for their version of the Tiffany solitaire setting. It's 2.5mm wide. Ignore the 18k white gold that desperately needs replating, plz! Note that the more true to form Tiffany styles have a knife-edge (see the raised edge in the middle of the band?).

Excellent. Do you think the photo you posted is a similar band width as the Vatche U-113?

The Vatche U113 has a knife-edge and is 3.10-2.10mm wide.

If you look under the "recently purchased" on this link, you can see several 1.4-1.6ct diamonds in this setting to get an idea of proportion.

The matching Vatche band is 2.30mm wide (so 0.20mm thinner than the Whiteflash one that I have that I posted a pic of above).

You certainly don't have to get the matching wedding band. A lot of ppl pair solitaires with diamond wedding bands.

Here's diamondseeker2006's Vatch U113 w/ a 1.58ct diamond on a size 5.5 finger. That's pretty close to give you a good idea of how it will look proportion-wise.

I studied all of the Tiffany-inspired settings and have come to the conclusion that the Vatché U113 is the closest to the original Tiffany setting. My second choice would be the Whiteflash setting.

I have a 1.5 ct on a size 4.5 so I'll post a few pics for your reference.

Thank you, wildcat03! That is exactly what I would be getting. What color is your stone? Any advice or changes you would make to the ring? Any other tips on ordering from WhiteFlash?

Thank you!

Mine is an H/VS2. In retrospect, I'd probably try to find a G/SI1 that was totally eye clean instead, as I have discovered that I am very color-sensitive. My fiancé did not purchase from Whiteflash, but used another trusted PS vendor so I don't have any advice there.

I, personally, love the tab prongs that Vatché does as their standard prong - this is true to the Tiffany-inspired setting as Tiffany uses the same style of prong. There is another recent thread from someone who asked Vatché to do claw prongs and wasn't entirely thrilled with the result. If I wanted a Tiffany-inspired setting and claw prongs, I'd probably order the Whiteflash setting instead as they have done a beautiful job with claw prongs in the past. FYI, if you order a Vatché setting it does take a few weeks as the diamond getting shipped to Vatché and they create the setting and set it, then ship it back to the vendor to be sent to you.
