Need some help finding the right Diamond at the Right price

Ok, so I''m ready to take the plunge, get on one knee, and pop the question. My girlfriend and I have been dating for 5 years, so I''m sure she is ready for me to take that next step too haha. Anyways, I know exactly what I''m looking for (I think), but I need some help finding the best deal for my money.

Budget: $4,000-$6,000 (If I could find one cheaper that would be great too)


The Diamond

Carat: at least 1 carat (1-1.25 I guess)

Cut: Princess Cut

Color: colorless

Clarity: Eye clean (so Sl1-VS1?)


The Setting

White gold w/ accent diamonds

I might have it set in a "Kite" setting where they turn the diamond 1/2 a turn.


If you kind folks would help me find the best bang for my buck I would be eternally grateful. Any advice, recommendation, or comments would be greatly appreciated.

If you use this search tool, you'll find many choices if you put in: princess, 1.0-1.2, F-H color, and VS2-SI1 for clarity, check only GIA and AGS:

One reason is I think turning it the other way is sort of trendy and non-engagement ring looking. The other reason is that I think it might make it more likely for the corner to be bumped and possibly cause a crack in the corner of the diamond. Another reason is that it might be more likely to poke a baby.

But these are just possibilities! The only way I would consider doing that is if she specifically has tried on a ring like that and told you it is exactly what she wants. It is far too risky otherwise.
