I have been lurking around PS for a while now and am in the early stages of seriously looking at a E-Ring. My FF wants a Heart shaped diamond with a full bezel around the diamond, to help bring the heart shape to life. She has small hands to match her small frame. I was looking to get something up to 1 carat. just looking for any and all direction on things to avoid or to make sure to find in a heart diamond and the bezel setting. In addition to the statements above I welcome other comments from informed users. Love the site and the quality of knowledge being exchanged here by the users on the forums.

one last note: she wears a size 5.5 on her ring finger.

My impression is that a full bezel on a heart shaped diamond is going to be hard due to the wider variation in heart "shapes" (the added angle and spread of the cleft, for example). I don't think you're going to be able to buy a heart bezel without going custom -- if it can be done at all.

That is some crazy requirements.

I agree, I reckon you're going to have to go custom, premade-ring, or second-hand - I don't think you'll find any 'stock' pieces for which you can choose your own stone. Unless calibrated heart diamonds aren't as uncommon as I'm thinking?

I know it will have to be custom. sorry I should have stated that. I know it can be done tiffany has a ring exactly like this, and she lets me know it just about every other week. :loopy:

I would first call goodoldgold/whiteflash/David at DBL, maybe Mark at ERD too, see what they can dig up for you in the way of nice hearts.. there aren't clear-cut cut determinations for this shape so you'll need to have lots of faith in your vendor's eyes and expertise.

Will have to be custom to fit the diamond because you have fat, skinny, long, short, deep cleft, slight cleft hearts etc etc! Having said that, one of my favourite rings is a bezel set heart see below (not mine but I saved a photo of it years ago and still have it). The second photo is of a natural yellow diamond heart 1ct that I bought from DiamondsbyLauren and David set into a DBTY necklace for me. It's gorgeous and I know he usually has heart cut diamonds in stock.

Also, there is bezel setting and there is bezel setting! You need to make sure you have somebody very skilled so you get a wonderful smooth even bezel.

One last thing, hearts are not the most loved cut of diamond - I think some people see them as being a little "twee" so before you go ahead and press the button, just check that it's 100% what you can live with for a long time.

my sister in law has a tiny .40 heart shaped diamond ring and I always thought it was ok, but that JA is beautiful. I would like that as a RHR myself!!
