So it looks like my MIL diamond will end up a little over a carat in weight after the BGD recut. I have a few weeks to wait so now I'm considering setting ideas. I'd like to somehow combine my two son's birthstones into the setting (Citrine and Tanzanite).
I'm considering halo's - either ring or pendant. Maybe alternating the colored stones in the halo. Any and all ideas welcome as I have no ideas right now.

tanzanite and citrine are both beautiful, but very contrasting with each other.
I have seen quite a few mums have the birthstones of their kids invisible-set under a ring shank (on the inner diameter)
if you want them to be visible, but are afraid of having difficulties in matching all these colors with other jewelry and clothing, you could go with something like this, and have each stone set on one side of the basket, below the halo :)

p.s. - I hope it's okay to post the pic above.. :halo:

Thanks for the idea, but I want the gemstones seen and I think the yellow and purple will look pretty cool together provided the right colors are sourced for the project. Also, I have limited colored stone jewelry so I'm ready for something colorful. :)

I am assuming you mean ring settings, but what about a 3 stone pendant with graduating stones?

pendant ideas are ok too. Do you have any pics of what you are thinking?

I'd probably do something like this stunning ring:

With the citrine as the rounds in the halo and tanzies for the two pears. If it were me, I might think about using a blue topaz for the November child because I think it would be so pretty paired with tanzanite!

That is pretty! Has to be citrine though as Ben knows what his birthstone commonly is and he is very literal. He would not accept alternates. :)

Something like these, maybe with the younger child as the smaller stone?

This would kind of separate the 2 vivid colors so they look more individual: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond-pendants/three-stone-martini-18k-white-gold-5546w18

Or have BGD make something like this, just in baskets all close together (maybe don't 'graduate' the sizes, just have all 3 stones the same size?): http://www.szul.com/ctw-shared-prong-three-stone-diamond-pendant-in-palladium/p_112873?siteid=Froogle&gclid=CNnf25OtzbUCFa1AMgodIRoACw Like this, either bezeled or not: http://www.pompeii3.com/p-291-14k-white-gold-75ct-bezel-three-stone-round-diamond-pendant.aspx?CAWELAID=1313818743&catargetid=1576196457&cagpspn=pla

Stole this photo from cellentani - hope she doesn't mind, but I think this might be it! I like the flower look, alternating stones. It will look good with my IDJ jackets (I'm eventually going to have colored studs to wear with my jackets in their birthstones).

Okay, I took the liberty of drawing/coloring some design ideas, including your own based on cellentani's design. I am not sure I like the alternating 'petal' colors look. I drew up my ideas, too (halos on each stone, and either bezels or prong set in a graduating style). The halo design could match colored studs in diamond jackets.

I think the haloed pendant ruby drew for you would look pretty! if you like the idea but for some reason do not want a diamond halo, you could also consider a not too thin bezel setting
