I live in Maryland and are looking to buy a engagement ring for my girlfriend. For the diamond, I will be buying online. For appraiser, I found a lot of good thing on Martin Fuller which I found a lot of good things on this side about. I'm plan to do a appraisal on the stone then one after it's set since that's what I saw a lot of people do here.
I'm wonder is there any reputable place near the dc area that people around for a set. We haven't done any research on the setting yet so it would be great if they have a local store that we can go in to compare different setting (nothing fancy, don't need customize, just going through the regular inventory and find something she likes). Would greatly appreciate any recommendation since i'm feeling a little bit uncomfortable giving a 20k piece of stone to someone random that I don't know if they will swap or damage it.
